Good morning! I’m back to recap yesterday — our final day in Austin!

The day started with a 7 mile training run. Turner is a runner as well (she’s done a ton of marathons, including Boston!) and joined me for the run. We hit up the same trail along the water that we biked on yesterday!
Besides having to stop for the bathroom a couple times, it was a good run — the weather was cooler and cloudy and the water stops along the trail were so helpful! Plus, this trail is so pretty!
We ran 7 miles in 1:01 for an average pace of 8:43. Here are our splits:
- Mile 1: 8:31
- Mile 2: 8:44
- Mile 3: 8:39
- Mile 4: 8:41
- Mile 5: 8:52
- Mile 6: 8:56
- Mile 7: 8:40
Yay! Great run with great company 🙂
After the run we hit up my new favorite place ever — Bouldin Creek! Cutest coffeehouse and vegetarian cafe ever. Thank you to reader Lauren for the recommendation!
We loved the funky atmosphere and all the outdoor seating!
Plus, the food was great and very Anne-friendly 🙂 I had their amazing “Granola Sunrise,” which was a bowlful of bananas, dried cranberries, pecans and homemade granola, topped with flax meal and a creamy blend of coconut milk, orange juice, banana, vanilla, cinnamon and silken tofu. Holy crap!!
Delicious AND healthy… yay!
I also loved Kris’s beautiful coffee 🙂
Their sign doesn’t say “caffeine dealer” for nothin 😉
After breakfast, we biked downtown to return our bikes to the rental shop.
I was sad to say goodbye to it! I love biking 🙂
We spent the rest of the day walking around, checking out the shops, soaking up some live music, and, of course, sampling some of the famous mobile food carts!
The sweet potato tamales at this place were SO GOOD!!
Oh hello, omelette crepe!
Check out my new Austin “Home Slice” pizza shirt… heh 🙂
It was a delicious end to a great weekend! I was very sad to say goodbye to Turner, Kris, and the city of Austin. I understand why everyone is in love with this city and I’m so glad I finally got the chance to check it out for myself 🙂 It reminds me more of California than Texas… very hipster, earth-friendly, and artsy… but with lots of cowboy boots! Love.
Anyway! It’s back to reality today, unfortunately… I’m off to work and then tonight I have my Nutrition final exam — definitely spent last night on the plane finishing up studying! Have a great Monday — I hope you all enjoyed traveling to Austin with me through the blog 🙂
