Morning!
It’s Tuesday and I’m still talking about the weekend, apparently — but I just have to share our fun Sunday adventures. Matt and I bought a LivingSocial deal for a whitewater kayaking + vineyard wine tasting trip with our friends Tom and Janice and Sunday was the big day!
Don’t worry, we went kayaking first and THEN drank wine, not the other way around. 😉
We started at 11 a.m. at the Harper’s Ferry Adventure Center on the Virginia/West Virginia border, ready to rock. We were given these really sexy helmets.
Here’s Tom and Janice, nerd bombing it on the bus out to the river.
And then it was go time!
Not sure why Matt was making such a weird face…
… but kayaking was a blast. 🙂
We went through some calm areas and some choppier areas of class I and II+ rapids. The rapids were the best part. We wanted more!
Every once in awhile, we’d all gather together and wait for people who got stuck on the rocks or capsized, heh. We also stopped for boxed lunches around the middle of the trip.
Tom, living the dream:
Janice, waving hi:
We were all sad when it was over!
But not THAT sad, because we knew that one quick outfit change and a short drive down the road later… wine awaited us.
We all headed to nearby 868 Estate Vineyards and were given vouchers for $10 worth of tasting/wine each.
We tasted a few, decided our favorite was the Pinot Grigio, bought a bottle, and settled at a picnic table outside to enjoy it.
Cheers!
We all parted ways with talk of going whitewater rafting or kayaking again soon. Next time, we’re ready for class 5 rapids. 😉
Have you ever been whitewater rafting or kayaking? Did you like it?
