Hi guys! We had a nice, low key weekend over here – the sunshine was very welcome! Here are some of the highlights:
1) Lots of fresh air!
Since last weekend was so rainy it had been awhile since we got in a nice family walk! We did our old tradition and stopped at Starbucks along the way. It was so nice out we ended up walking over 3 miles – quite the workout when you have a 10 pound weight strapped to you! (If you’re curious, that’s the ErgoBaby winter carrier but unfortunately it’s an old version that’s not being made anymore – it’s on loan from a friend.)
2) Good eats!
For lunch on Saturday Matt made us a variation of this Saucy Tomato & Spinach Chicken recipe from ages ago – he added onions, celery, and red pepper and omitted the black beans. Delicious! And we had enough left over for lunch yesterday too.
We also had pancakes one morning – hadn’t made pancakes in way too long! This was the simple mills pancake mix with chia seeds and blueberries added to the batter. I had mine with cottage cheese, sprouted pumpkin seeds, and pure maple syrup (added after the photo so it didn’t get soggy)!
My other weekend breakfast was a couple fried eggs with berries (which I ate most of before this pic) and some leftover Red Lentil Granola Bars (<- recipe) from the freezer.
3) Social time with friends!
On Saturday, I was texting with my friends and fellow new moms Heather and Lily; none of us had plans for dinner so we decided to get all of us + the husbands and the babies (they both have 2ish month old boys) together for dinner out! We met up at the baby-friendly hour of 5 p.m. at 2Amy’s in northwest DC. I love 2Amy’s and hadn’t been in ages! We got a ton of appetizers and different pizzas and shared it all, and I got a salad as well to get in some veggie volume.
The babies all did really well at dinner! All of us brought bottles of milk vs. trying to deal with breastfeeding in public and it worked out really well. Riese hung out in the car seat for a bit and then sat in our laps while we ate before Matt gave her her bottle!
When we arrived at 5 the place was not crowded at all and mostly families with kids – by the time we left around 7 it was PACKED with people waiting for tables. Good timing to get out of there!
4) Lots of baby cuddles.
Matt had to do some errands on both afternoons, so Riese and I got in lots of nice cuddle time. On Sunday afternoon we took a nice long walk, on Saturday we just relaxed at home. Here are some of my favorite pictures of her from the weekend. 🙂
Okay one more. This is from bath time on Saturday night – her fuzzy little wet hair is so cute!!
I’ll see you guys back here tomorrow for an easy marinades post – lots of easy weeknight meal dinner inspiration in the post so stay tuned!
