Hey guys! Thank you for all the enthusiasm over my exciting running-related announcement (and giveaway!) post from Friday! Keep those entries coming. 🙂
I hope you guys had fun weekends! Ours was especially fun because one of my best friends from grad school, Steph, got married here in DC! Our whole UNC grad school crew was in town for the festivities and it was SO great to see them again. I’ve missed them – I wish we all lived closer!
Also fun: my friends Ben and Taylor were the wedding photographers (via our recommendation – he’s a good friend of mine from high school and they also photographed our wedding!) They sent me the sneak preview shot of our whole UNC grad school gang below (doing one of our inside jokes, ha!) – love it! <3
I was too busy having a blast at the wedding to get any other photos, but here I am beforehand with my handsome date. 🙂
Outside of the wedding on Saturday night, here are some of the other highlights from the weekend!
1) Taking my friend Lauren on a DC running tour.
Lauren came into town on Thursday evening – I was happy to have her here early because it meant we could do a fun running date on Friday morning! I took her on one of my favorite DC sightseeing loops and we had a blast exploring together. 🙂
Lauren had only been to DC once before as an adult – when we came up from NC with a bunch of our other UNC girls to run the National Half Marathon in 2011 (just had a fun trip down memory lane re-reading that race recap!) – so she was excited to do some sightseeing!
We had a blast catching up, taking in the sights, and stopping for pictures. 🙂 We ended up covering nearly 6.5 miles!
2) Spending Friday afternoon on a boat!
One of me and Matt’s friends, Shane, rented a boat on Friday and invited us to join him and some others for an afternoon on the water. I had already planned to take the day off since my friends would be here, and Matt leaves for a big work trip today that involves working over the weekend, so he was able to use some comp time – perfect! My friend Libby from grad school arrived at noon on Friday – just in time to join us for the fun! Good friends + sunshine + some adult beverages = best way ever to spend an afternoon. 🙂
3) Yoga + strolling on Saturday morning.
Lauren and Libby stayed at our place this weekend so I introduced them to my favorite yoga studio (Edge Yoga) on Saturday morning! We hit their 9 a.m. flow and then grabbed coffee at nearby Java Shack and took a long stroll before having brunch. Such a nice way to start the day!
I was so sad to say goodbye to these ladies yesterday and the rest of the gang on Saturday night – I wish we’d had more time together! It always goes too quickly. The ladies headed out yesterday late morning; I threw together a really simple breakfast for us before they left. Toast with nut butter + scrambled eggs with some dill from our herb boxes + grapes. Yum!
Matt and I spent the rest of yesterday relaxing – we played a little tennis, did some stuff around the house, caught up on some work, enjoyed a Blue Apron dinner, etc. Nice little Sunday! Also, for those who also watch it – wasn’t Game of Thrones amazing last night?! Wow – so intense!
Have a great day, my friends! By popular demand – I will leave you with two cute shots of our favorite furry friend. 🙂
Have you ever done a running sightseeing tour? I often do my own unofficial running tours when I travel – such a great way to see a new place – and I did an official one a couple years ago in Paris that was amazing! (Recap: Paris running tour.)
