Good morning! It’s hard to get back to work today after the weekend, as always! Matt was out of town at a bachelor party so I was cruising solo this weekend. On Friday, I had a super cozy couch and TV night (I’ve been watching my way through “One Tree Hill” on Netflix… so addictive) that was glorious. Saturday morning, I treated myself to a yoga class at my local fave: Edge Yoga.
I haven’t been going to Edge Yoga a ton lately due to working downtown more often and traveling so much, so it was great to be back. It’s so good! Saturday morning was rainy and cold – perfect for a cozy yoga class. I went to Nikki’s 9 a.m. vinyasa flow, and it was great as always. Highly recommend!
After yoga, I met some friends for brunch at Boulevard Woodgrill, another old fave. Always hits the spot!
My mom and I met up Saturday afternoon for a little shopping outing together out at Tysons Galleria, which was a lot of fun. We capped it off with dinner at Legal Seafoods, where I got raw oysters to start and one of them was the size of my entire hand. Amazing.
As for dinner, we both got the single crab cake, which came with scallops, grilled shrimp, and a little salad. Perfect!
Sunday morning, the rain and dreary weather had departed and we were left with a gorgeous day! Clearly a run was in order. 🙂
I drove over to my friend Kathleen’s place near H street/NoMA area of DC, and we ran from there to the Capitol and down the Mall. It was sooooooooo nice out – cool, crisp, but sunny – the type of running weather I dreamed about all summer.
We headed over to the tidal basin from there, which was looking lovely as well.
We didn’t have a distance goal in mind – we just figured we’d see how we felt and enjoy the day. We were having such a great time running and chatting – it had been way too long since we’d run together – and enjoying the weather, that when I looked at my watch when we were a mile away from Kathleen’s place, I realized we’d already run 7 miles! Whoa! We were both shocked. Just goes to show how much having a running buddy makes those miles fly by. 🙂
Unintentional long run – 8 miles – done! Sweet.
Endorphin high, we grabbed coffee (an iced whole milk mocha for me – so delicious post-run) and walked over to Bullfrog Bagels on H Street for some refueling.
This place was so delicious! I got a salt bagel with egg, cheese, avocado, and salmon. Amazing.
As for the rest of yesterday, I raced home, cleaned up (dry shampoo FTW – I got my hair cut on Thursday and wanted to ride out the nice straight blow dry as long as possible…), and headed to my friend Gretchen’s bridal shower!
The bridal shower was awesome – Harry Potter themed, which totally makes sense for anyone who knows Gretchen – I was so happy to be able to be there to join in the celebrations. <3 Gretchen’s sister Jenny, my high school BFF, is here for the festivities as well, and a bunch of us went and grabbed dinner after at Koi Koi in Falls Church. Great sushi spot and a perfect way to cap off the weekend!
How was your weekend, my friends? Any delicious meals or fun workouts/runs to report?
