Good morning!
My flour free breakfast pancake was back in the mix over the weekend – I hadn’t made it in too long! Turns out Riese likes it, too – she gnawed on some finger-sized strips of it with some yogurt and almond butter smeared on top. Mmmmm.
Here’s a behind the scenes real life look at my breakfast set up on Saturday – the animals are never far! They always want to be in on the action. 😉 The only one missing was Matt – he was playing in an all-day soccer tournament (in the rain – bummer)!
I mentioned previously that my sister-in-law Morgana has been in town to dance in a Capital Fringe Festival show, Gilded, and over the weekend my brother-in-law came into town to see her in action. He teaches Flywheel classes up in NYC and was able to fill in for someone and teach a class at the Dupont location here on Saturday! I’ve been wanting to take one of his classes for awhile now, and my sister-in-law was happy to spend some time with Riese, so she came over to babysit while I took Drew’s class. Fun!
It was a hard but fun class – Drew is a good instructor! If you’re in NYC and like Flywheel, check him out – his full name is Andrew Mauney. 🙂 I believe he mostly teaches in Chelsea and the Upper East Side!
Drew and I grabbed lunch for us and Morgana at Glen’s Garden Market nearby and brought it home. I’ve missed their food – I don’t go that often now that I’m not working out of my co-working space near it anymore! I got a random mix of stuff that hit the spot: beets, a meatball, some chicken salad, a cold Asian pasta salad with tofu, roasted cauliflower, and a kale and apple salad.
The rest of the day was pouring rain so we kept things low key! Matt didn’t get home until Riese had already gone to bed, and he was exhausted after so much soccer, so we ordered some pho and ate on the couch with some Netflix. 🙂 Perfect for a rainy night!
Yesterday morning I met a friend for a run date – more on that tomorrow! Then for lunch Matt, Riese, and I brought food to our friends Jackie and Aaron who have a 3 week old baby boy. We grabbed Taco Bamba on the way over – delicious! It was so fun to meet their little one, but also crazy because I already can’t remember Riese being that TINY! I hardly remembered how to hold a baby that little who can’t hold their head up on their own. Time flies. It made me both nostalgic for that phase… and kind of glad to be out of that phase.
After leaving Jackie and Aaron’s we popped home for a minute and then headed over to our friends Heather and Mike’s place for a baby-friendly early dinner. They have a baby who is around Riese’s age so it was really fun to see them “play” together, aka both sit up and play with toys in the same vicinity. 🙂
We brought a salad with us – arugula + spinach + apple + feta + pine nuts with a homemade vinaigrette (equal parts olive oil and lemon juice with a splash of apple cider vinegar and a squirt of dijon mustard) and they made a really yummy Asian-y peanut pasta with some zucchini noodles and regular noodles and shredded chicken. I think I need to get a spiralizer – weird that I don’t have one yet, right?! Matt and I were fascinated by it!
Have a great day guys! And thank you to those who have sent me some quick meal ideas per my request on Friday – I’ll share some of my faves later this week! I got some good ones… please keep them coming!
