I went for my first run since the Vegas half marathon yesterday! It was my final Thursday early a.m. run of the semester with my girl Elle.
At the beginning of this semester, Elle and I made a plan to run together every Thursday morning before class. With the exception of a couple Thursdays when one of us has been out of town, it’s been a successful Thursday morning ritual! Often my favorite part of the week. 🙂 I loved the time to catch up on each other’s lives (and the motivation to get out of bed). The runs were especially nice since this semester has been by far our craziest and we haven’t gotten in much social time other than our runs!
We ran our usual hilly loop yesterday.
My legs felt pretty good but were still a bit tired from the half; my lower back and hips in particular felt tight. But we had a good run!
Splits:
- Mile 1: 8:55
- Mile 2: 9:44 (hill of deathhhh)
- Mile 3: 9:16
- Mile 4: 8:36
- 0.32 nubbin pace: 8:37
Total mileage: 4.32. Total time: 39:16. Average pace: 9:05. Good times!
I wore my compression sleeves — I am still amazed that they have seriously completely cleared my calf tightness issue. Hooray! My ankle feels great still, too. (And yes, I forgot to take off the timing strip thingy from Vegas.)
It was COLD yesterday morning — winter is back again. The weather here is so weird. It was 70 earlier this week and then from Wednesday night to Thursday morning a massive cold front came in and it was down to 30.
Nerd alert
We had a very chilly stretching session after our run — that concrete was COLD!
We’ve already decided to continue our Thursday morning run tradition next semester. Yay. Workout buddies are the best.
Anyway, time to buckle down and finish up studying — my first of 3 final exams is this morning at 11! I got up early to go to our little apartment gym only to find it was randomly locked (grrr), so I came back and did some weights in the living room instead. Good enough. I’m thinking a walk in the sunshine later on today will serve as the rest of my workout and a nice break from biochem studying. 🙂
Have a happy Friday!
