Beautiful morning for a run today – anyone else get out there to enjoy it? Check out this ridiculous red sun:
My friend Mary and I met up for some miles this morning and enjoyed pounding the pavement and chatting as the sun rose.
I love Georgetown’s quiet streets in the early morning. It gets so crowded later in the day – fun to see it just waking up.
Obligatory super un-cute early morning running photo:
3.5 miles, done!
I was a bit sore for this morning’s run because I’ve been diving headfirst back into strength training this week!
First up was CrossFit on Wednesday night. I hadn’t been in a couple months thanks to marathon training; it felt great to be back! I’d forgotten how hard it is (in a fun way). 🙂 For Wednesday night’s workout, we worked on back squats and then did a WOD (workout of the day) with 25 burpees, 25 cleans, and 25 burpees – and while doing this, we had to stop every minute and do 7 wall balls. It was harder than I thought it would be! Whew.
I was decked out in my fitness finest for the occasion; thanks to a sponsored campaign I’m participating in with FitFluential, my friends at Reebok sent me some new gear to test out and share my thoughts on.
On top I was wearing the Reebok Crossfit Perform Tri-Blend Short Sleeved Tee, which I’m obsessed with. This is the same cut/style tee that they have in a lot of other designs as well as solid colors (I really love this color blue and the design on the front), and I LOVE the fit of it. I first received one of these shirts from Reebok over a year ago and loved it so much I bought it in a bunch more colors, both in short sleeved and long sleeved variations. I actually am wearing one of the long sleeved ones while writing this post! The shirt has an anti-microbial blend, flatlock seams to reduce chafing and abrasion, and PlayDry moisture to wick away sweat. Super comfy and flattering cut, too – I love that they are nice and long. Underneath it, I rocked the Reebok CrossFit Skinny Strap Bra, which also got two big thumbs up – really comfortable. It also has anti-microbial technology and is made of nylon-spandex jersey blend for stretch and durability. It was nice and soft and has a cool double racerback, too.
On bottom, I was wearing the Reebok CrossFit Core Training Short, which I was also a big fan of. They have a nice extra wide stretch waistband that is really comfortable, and the shorts are very lightweight with stretchy woven fabric and a split leg seam to allow for easy range of motion. The material felt like board shorts almost. Most importantly: they didn’t ride up during squats or give me a huge wedgie. 🙂 I wish they were a tiiiiiny bit longer, but overall two big thumbs up.
On Thursday night, I got in another strength workout – this one in the form of a strength & conditioning class at NOVA MMA – part of their women’s kickboxing program.
Oh hi, arms. Haven’t done this in awhile…
On bottom, I was wearing the same Reebok shorts in another color, and on top before warming up and going for the tank top, I rocked this Reebok hoodie – isn’t it cute?!
I really love the fit of it – long and flattering cut. It’s the Reebok CrossFit Jacquard Hoody – it’s built for air flow, moisture control, and stretch/articulation. It has thumbholes sleeves and a cool bungee hem, plus a small zip pocket. I also love this saying on the arm, with a cute photobomber:
I bet the hoodie would be great for running, too! Thanks again to Reebok and FitFluential for the opportunity to test out this cool new gear. I’ve been so impressed with Reebok’s clothing since I started working with them a couple years ago – so creative, fun, comfortable, and functional.
Anyway – in case you were wondering, yes I’m sore today. 🙂 It felt so great to get back into some harder strength workouts though after focusing mostly on running, yoga, and swimming the past couples months!
Here’s the week in review:
- Saturday: Rock ‘n’ Roll USA half marathon!
- Sunday: Rest
- Monday: Walk in the snow + light gym workout – did some arm weights and ab work.
- Tuesday: Evening yoga class @ Edge Yoga
- Wednesday: Evening CrossFit class

And now – time to close the laptop and start the weekend. I hope it’s a nice one for all of you! 🙂
