Is anyone else obsessed with peaches right now? We had so many good peaches while at the beach last week, and I picked up a ton at Whole Foods when we got back so I could keep the dream alive. So juicy and refreshing! My fave breakfast as of late has been a sliced peach with some sort of berry (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries… I’m an equal opportunity berry eater) on top of plain full fat Greek yogurt. I had it yesterday with a side of sprouted grain toast with a thick smear of almond butter.
Hits the spot!
As for this morning, I had a fun treat – my blogger buddy and fellow dietitian Kristina is in town visiting, so we made plans to meet up this morning for a workout + breakfast. (Coincidentally, the most recent post on Kristina’s blog right now is a beautiful peach parfait – great minds think alike!)
Kristina is 28 weeks pregnant, so I asked if she wanted to do a lower key workout, but she insisted she was up for something more strenuous and that she wanted to try Urban Athletic Club after reading about it on my blog so often. Don’t have to ask me twice!
We hit up their 7 a.m. class, which was awesome as always – a great mix of cardio and weights, and today’s instructor, Graham, is very attentive and hands on so he was a good fit with Kristina there in need of a couple modifications. She crushed it, though – proud of you, girl!
After the workout, we walked down to Le Pain Quotidien and were able to snag a spot out back on their patio. As of yesterday the weather suddenly got beautiful here – much less humid! Hooray!
I had an iced latte (obvi) plus my standard breakfast fave there – the avocado and tomato omelette, plus mushrooms and goat cheese. Delicious! I also had one of the pieces of toast with some unpictured jam.
Great seeing you, Kristina – enjoy the rest of your DC adventures and this beautiful weather! 🙂
While we’re talking about restaurants, here’s one that’s worth checking out if you’re local – MXDC in Metro Center.
My high school friend Hilary and I met up there for lunch earlier this week and it was delicious! I had the beef tacos. 🙂
And then last night, I balanced out all that beef with all the veggies at Glen’s Garden Market in Dupont Circle – yes, I’m obsessed with that place. 🙂
In case you think I’ve only been eating out this week, don’t worry, we’ve also been cooking up some Blue Apron. More on that to come (this shipment was free and for my next sponsored review, but you guys know we pay for it on our own a lot, too – love Blue Apron), but the two meals I’ve made so far have been delicious!
I repurposed some of the leftover rice from the second Blue Apron dinner into lunch yesterday, with the addition of some leftover rotisserie chicken from Sunday night and a little Cholula chili garlic hot sauce (the best). Plus an enormous salad with avocado and topped with a little Caesar Tessemae’s dressing.
And now, back to work! I think I’m going to relocate myself and my laptop outside somewhere – it’s too nice to be indoors.
Have a great day, my friends!
