Hello, hello!
I just finished up my third and last exam of this week, our open book Medical Nutrition Therapy exam! Whew. So glad this week is more or less over. We got back our biochem exams (from Monday) yesterday and let’s just say that our entire MPH class basically bombed it; our class average was 66. Sigh. Everyone was bummed because we all studied really hard, but the test was WAY too long and a lot of people didn’t even finish, let alone have time to think properly. Bah. Given that turn of events and how crazy busy this week has been, a few classmates and I decided yesterday that a post-class afternoon beer was necessary. To hell with productivity.
Clearly going out for “one quick beer” turned into an afternoon extravaganza involving three beers and a shot. Everything in moderation, including moderation? Obviously not the healthiest of choices, but a fun afternoon was exactly what we all needed. 🙂 I spent the rest of the evening getting somewhat organized for this morning’s exam — luckily the test was based on previous homework assignments so I was already pretty prepared.
This morning, bright and early before the exam, I met up with friends Lauren and Genna for a run!
Unattractive early a.m. pre-run photo? Check.
We had a fantastic run — great conversation, and there’s nothing like a good morning sweat session to make you feel like yourself again after a few too many beers!
We covered our usual VERY hilly route — 4.38 miles in 41:10. Not our speediest, but it was hilly and we were all feeling a bit sluggish. 🙂
Splits:
- Mile 1: 9:01
- Mile 2: 9:53 (beginning of massive hill)
- Mile 3: 9:43 (end of massive hill)
- Mile 4: 9:10
Good times!
I’m off to run some errands and get some more work done — we have a form due tomorrow detailing our top choices for our clinical (hospital) internships next summer, so I need to look through the choices seriously and figure out which ones seem like a good fit. We’ll be interviewing over the next couple months and will hopefully know by early December where we’ll be placed! I’m hoping to try to do my internship back up in DC, but we’ll see. There are also some good options around North Carolina, though none that will work for me in Chapel Hill, boo.
Hope you’re all having happy Thursdays!
