Hey friends! Before I get into today’s blog post, for those who are watching the Super Bowl this weekend (or who just like awesome snack food), check out this post Healthy Super Bowl Snack Recipes! It’s a round up of my all-time favorite game-friendly snack recipes that are healthier but also still delicious. 🙂 Enjoy!
And now, let’s kick off the weekend with some Friday faves, shall we? Here are some things I’m loving lately!
1) Winter Shape Up!
I always love co-hosting the Winter Shape Up with Gina every year because it’s so fun seeing you guys crush your workouts, try new-to-you recipes, and support each other with your positive and motivating updates in our private WSU Facebook group (be sure to join if you haven’t yet)!
You have a couple more days to comment on the week 1 meal plan page and the week 1 workout page to enter the sponsor giveaways, and I just posted the week 2 meal plan and grocery lists so you can hit the grocery store this weekend! Gina will have the week 2 workout plan and videos available on her blog later this weekend. Enjoy – and keep up the great work! 🙂
2) Dinner dates with good friends!
On Tuesday night I had a fun dinner date with my grad school friend Steph. It was so good to see her! We hit up Nooshi in DC for sushi, edamame and prosecco – winning combo. 🙂
And last night I had dinner with my friend Karen! We’ve both been so busy we haven’t met up in awhile – so good to see her as always. We met up in Clarendon and hit our fave Le Pain Quotidien – hadn’t been there in too long! We both got the “bakers lunch” (which thankfully they let us order for dinner, heh) with chicken and veggie soup, avocado toast, and an arugula quinoa salad. I love a good soup + salad + bread/sandwich/cracker combo – such a great variety of flavors, textures, and tastes and so satisfying!
3) District Line Co. apparel! (sponsored)
Local DC area readers will be excited about this one – have you heard of District Line Co. yet? They make super cute locally themed apparel!
I first heard about District Line Co. when I met their founder and CEO, Lisa, last year at a networking event for female entrepreneurs in Arlington. I went home, checked out the website, and immediately purchased a number of items, including the Arlington tank top you guys have seen me rocking for yoga classes, and the men’s Arlington t-shirt, which Matt loves – really soft and cozy and fits well! I’m also in love with their DC skyline tee, which I bought last fall! It has a nice long and flattering cut and is really soft.
Probably the #1 thing I’ve purchased them from lately, though, is baby onesies! They are SO perfect for local friend’s baby showers! I’ve given a bunch of the Arlington onesies out as gifts, and they just released a DC skyline onesie last week that I’m going to buy a couple of to have on hand for upcoming showers. So cute!
Check out the website to see more of their local offerings, including shirts for other parts of NoVA (Alexandria, Falls Church, McLean, Vienna), kid’s apparel, and more. And as a special bonus for you guys, use the code fannetasticfood for 20% off any order of $35 or more, including sale items, until 12/31/17. Happy shopping – and let me know how you like their stuff! 🙂
4) Toasted almonds!
This is random, but so is this post so I’m going with it! I was recently reminded of how awesome toasted almonds are vs. just regular almonds. They get so much more flavorful if you toast them! Makes an especially delicious addition on top of fish at dinner, like my Almond Crusted Tilapia. 🙂 Try it!
5) We are NC-bound today!
Matt and I are driving down to Winston Salem, NC this afternoon to spend the weekend with both of his brothers and their wives! Should be a fun little reunion, and I always love going back to NC, even though we won’t be in Chapel Hill, my true love. 🙂 Looking forward to hopefully getting some Carolina blue skies though – DC has been so gray lately and I’m not loving it!
Have a great weekend everyone! I’ll see you back here on Monday for an NC adventures recap. 🙂
