Hey friends! It’s a beautiful day in DC and I started it by enjoying a sunrise run. My favorite. 🙂
My friend Sokphal and I hadn’t seen each other in awhile and I missed her! I decided skipping today’s track workout and doing a fun DC sightseeing run with her instead sounded like a very good idea. 🙂
We did one of our usual favorite DC monument runs, starting at Iwo Jima and running over Memorial Bridge to the WWII Memorial and back.
We decided some walking along the reflecting pool was in order, too. This was Sokphal’s shakeout run before racing the Rock ‘n’ Roll DC Half Marathon on Saturday so she wasn’t trying to do anything crazy – which worked out well because neither was I. 🙂
Almost 4 miles, check! I know the distance on my watch is going to drive some of you nuts – sorry about that. 😉
(Watch doesn’t include our walking break, obviously, or that would have been a REALLY fast run!)
Also: how awesome are these St. Patrick’s Day themed shoes Brooks gifted me in anticipation of our annual blogger ambassador trip next weekend?! The inside says “Kiss me” in one shoe and “I’m a runner” in the other, lol. Unfortunately these are sold out on their website, but they are the Launch 4 (affiliate link), which has all sorts of other fun colors – felt great on the run, too! I’m a huge Launch fan.
Back at home post-run I had a latte and my flour free breakfast pancake with slivered almonds and some frozen wild blueberries. Yummmm! I did the microwave method in a shallow bowl again – just pop it in for 3 minutes.
As for other food highlights this week, I randomly had a lot of shrimp! Went out to dinner at Matchbox near Capitol Hill on Tuesday and I had a salad with really good grilled shrimp to start, plus a couple slices of pizza! Their pizza = amazing.
As for last night, Matt and I made shrimp tacos a la Sun Basket (<—affiliate link for 3 free meals). Sooooo good. Tacos = always a good idea. I really liked the sauce and the quick pickled cabbage, too! (That’s Matt’s plate pictured – he had 4, I had 2!)
As for today, I’m whipping up a slow cooker Chicken Tikka Masala dish for dinner tonight – stay tuned for the recipe tomorrow! 🙂 I know you guys love slow cooker recipes – and I do too, because they are so easy and require very little prep and then you have an awesome meal ready and waiting by the time dinner rolls around!
