Hello and happy Friday!
First things first – I’m excited to announce that I updated my AnneTheRD nutrition counseling service offerings earlier this week! I’m moving to a package-based model that I hope will be more comprehensive and helpful for future clients; I also made follow up sessions shorter but more frequent, based on feedback. If you’re interested in working together, please check it out! I also updated my testimonial page.
And now, guess what I finally made it back to on Tuesday night? My old friend the Georgetown Lululemon run club!
Those of you who were reading last summer will remember that I used to join this run club almost every week (it’s every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and meets at the store), but I got out of the habit last fall because it was hard to get to from my internship at the time. It was great to be back – hoping to make it a more regular occurrence again!
The run club has gotten all fancy – instead of normal runs every week, they’re now mixing it up with track workouts, hill repeats, and boot camps – awesome! This week, my friend Kathleen and I joined for the hill repeat workout.
Oh, and I was wearing a see-through shirt.
The shirt is a new “Micro Mesh Tank” that Brooks sent me to test out as part of my Run Happy Ambassadorship. When I signed on to receive the shirt, even though it said micro mesh, I totally didn’t realize that meant it would be see-through! When it first arrived, I wasn’t sure about the whole thing, but I actually ended up loving it! When it gets really hot out I’m always tempted to just run in a sports bra but I feel like that’s awkward when you’re running in the city, so this is the perfect compromise. You can’t really tell the shirt is see-through unless you look closely, and it was really comfortable and light weight. Perfect!
Brooks also sent me some new shorts – the Racer 2 1/2” Short. They’re cute, REALLY lightweight, and really comfortable. Just an FYI that they are super short, though – you wouldn’t want to wear them for anything involving situps, as I found out later in the evening… awkward.
They’ll be great for summer because they’re so light, and they also have two pockets and two little areas on the back to hold fuel gels. I’ll be needing that come long runs for marathon training!
Anyway! Back to the workout. We all warmed up with about a half mile loop, running along the beautiful Georgetown waterfront.
Running somewhere this beautiful on a sunny summer night is such a treat.
We ended our loop at the bottom of a large hill. Instead of just randomly running up the hill, we did a specific workout:
- Lap 1: jog up the hill; jog down around the block
- Lap 2: jog up half the hill, then sprint the second half; jog back down
- Lap 3: sprint up the whole hill; jog back down
We repeated that 3 times. Whew! Great workout. Love that it was varied to keep us engaged. And it helped to have my buddy Kathleen by my side to chat with, too!
We ended the workout back at the Lululemon store, where they brought us upstairs for some ab work. Great workout with fun company!
And now, I have a really exciting giveaway for you guys! Brooks has offered to share the love and will offer one lucky fANNEtastic food reader a seriously awesome prize: the choice of any top, any bottom, and any pair of shoes from their website. Yep, a whole new outfit! Awesome, right?
To mix it up and make this contest more fun, I thought I would do a photo-based contest! To enter to win (U.S. residents only, please), email me (anne{at}fANNEtasticfood.com) the most awkward running-related photo you have. The more I laugh, the better chance you have of winning. I’m talking either a hilariously 80’s running outfit, or a really silly race photo, or whatever you like! On Monday, I’ll share the winning photo here on the blog and that person will win a brand new Brooks outfit!
Good luck and have fun! 🙂 Have a great weekend, everyone!
