Hello friends!
I had a wonderful weekend here in D.C.! I decided to stay until this morning instead of leaving last night, so now it’s time to hit the road back to Chapel Hill! But first — a fun recap.
As you know, I was in town this weekend for my 10 year high school reunion! Time flies, right?!
The main event was a cocktail party on Saturday night. We had a great turnout, and it was really fun seeing everyone and catching up with good friends as well as people I hadn’t seen in ages!
Fun times! I feel like a 10 year reunion = people still look pretty much the same, just with better clothes and cuter hair 😉
There was also a reunion picnic on Sunday. Here I am with my friend Gabe, his wife Angela, and their adorable 1 year old, Ella! Totally jealous of her purple tights.
Yesterday morning (yes, after being out late at my reunion), I dragged myself out of bed to go meet miss Emily for a run! Big sunglasses were clearly necessary.
At first I was somewhat questioning my sanity at getting up early to run after being out late, but the weather was GORGEOUS and it turned out to be a great run with great company 🙂
We met up on the GW Parkway Trail, which is one of my favorite running trails in DC — it’s SO beautiful, right along the water across from all the monuments!
Emily was doing a long marathon training run (20 miles!), so I said I would keep her company for the first 6. We ran the 6 miles in about 55 minutes at a comfortable 9:06 average min/mile pace, chatting away the whole time. I heart Emily — she’s a great running buddy! 🙂
Splits:
- Mile 1: 9:15
- Mile 2: 9:12
- Mile 3: 9:05
- Mile 4: 9:02
- Mile 5: 9:04
- Mile 6: 9:02
It was a wonderful run on an absolutely beautiful morning. Check out our new friend who was also out enjoying the weather:

And with that, I’m hitting the road! I’ve been listening to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series on CD and it’s SO GOOD!! Makes the drive go by so much more quickly. I’m about halfway through the third book, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, right now. So entertaining!
I hope you all had wonderful weekends. Thank you for all the great feedback on my Project Food Blog Challenge #4 entry post: Cranberry Caramel Date Bars! Voting is now open and, as always, I would be very grateful for your vote! Click here to vote for me 🙂 Thank you!
