Hello, hello!
Let’s pretend it’s still the weekend, okay? Mine was so fun I want to go back to it.
Saturday morning started with an 8 mile half marathon training run with new friend Callie!
Callie is a local blog reader that emailed me a couple weeks ago wanting to meet up for a run since most of her friends are sadly not into exercise. I was happy to oblige — you guys know how I love workout buddies! 🙂
Not surprising given her blog name (Smiles from Callie), Callie was super sweet and cute. It was a pleasure to chat with her for 8 miles! We had beautiful weather, too. Here are our stats:
Splits:
- Mile 1: 8:36
- Mile 2: 9:01
- Mile 3: 8:51
- Mile 4: 8:59
- Mile 5: 8:41
- Mile 6: 9:15
- Mile 7: 9:01
- Mile 8: 9:10
Overall time: 1:11:36 — average pace 8:57. Yay! I haven’t ran that far since March!
Thanks for keeping me company on my run, Callie! We must run together again soon. 🙂
I got home from my run right around the same time Matt got home from a soccer game — we were both starving and decided it would be fun to go out to brunch. We headed to Jessee’s in Carrboro!
I had the omelette special — which was all sorts of veggies with cheese — plus home fries and a side of bacon, of course. 🙂
I also had some of their homemade iced tea — Earl Grey with lavender — so good!
After we finished eating we hung out on their patio while trying to figure out afternoon plans. We wanted to hit up a winery but couldn’t find any doing any fun events (we wanted something like Cork ‘n’ Pork again!) and didn’t think we wanted to drive aways just for a simple tasting, so we decided to head back home, dejected.
And then — it was fate. Look what we found!
Why, it’s a wine tasting!! Outside at Weaver Street Market!
$7 for a glass and then all the wine you could taste. Clearly we were immediately on board.
I was pumped.
This is my “Look! We found a wine tasting!” face, in case you couldn’t tell.
We got right down to business.
Matt being a wine snob:
I’m not sure there’s a better way to spend a gorgeous Saturday than hanging around outside tasting wine. It was the best.
There was even a band to entertain us:
And we ran into my grad school classmate Meghan! Meghan came to the tasting alone thinking it was going to be a small, one table, taste a few wines then peace out type event — not so much. 🙂 She joined us for the second half of the tasting, yay!
Best wine name ever.
Here’s the wine we bought:
Juuuuuust kidding. 😉 That was the cart holding all the empties. They must have gone through a TON of wine at this event!
When we were done tasting, Meghan headed out and Matt and I bought a bottle and hung out at the picnic tables enjoying it.
Don’t worry, I used a glass. See?
More friends came to join us a little while later — Khalil, Steph, and Elle. 🙂
Yay 🙂 After hanging out for awhile, we all ended our night with dinner at Milltown — every single one of us got burgers and fries and they were delicious. I don’t have burgers that often but when I’m craving one, they are the best.
Such a fun Saturday. And I was in bed by 10 p.m., which also makes me happy. 🙂
Sadly the party is now over — it’s Monday once again and I’m heading off to class! Busy day ahead with a group project meeting, biochem class, etc.
Let’s keep the weekend alive — what fun things did you guys get into this weekend?
