If you missed part 1, read that first! Let’s pick back up where I left off – on Saturday morning. We started things off with a yummy brunch! Matt’s dad threw together a simple veggie and cheese frittata, and we had bacon and greens on the side, plus toast and fruit (in the middle of the table).
Then we took Riese into town for her first farmer’s market adventure! The rain had cleared out and it got really nice out, so it was fun to wander around and pick up some local treats. She snoozed for a bit and then checked out the action.
We hung out at the house for a bit after and then got ready for the wedding that we were in the area to attend! My dress is from thredUP – brand is Carmen Marc Valvo – a good find! And Matt’s mom lent me the necklace – it was perfect with it!
Dressing for this wedding was a bit complicated because I needed to wear a dress that I was able to pump in without having to take the whole dress off. I thought about bringing a hand pump, but decided I’d be able to find a plug to use and it would be faster to just use my electric pump (the spectra), so I brought that and snuck away for about 30 minutes during the reception to pump – there was a bridal suite attached to one of the bathrooms that was empty since everyone was in the reception, so I used that. My hands-free pumping bra came along for the adventure, and for storing the milk, I brought this awesome lunch bag that has a built-in freezer lining (thank you to the blog reader who recommended it!) – you freeze the whole lunch bag and the inside of it turns into ice packs that keep things cold. It worked well for keeping the milk I pumped cool during the wedding, and we also used it to transport some of my frozen breast milk with us to/from Pittsburgh… it kept it frozen the whole 5 hour drive. Aaaaanyway – I know many of you are like “why is she sharing so much detail, we don’t care about this” – but I figure some of you reading might find yourselves in similar situations and find this info useful, so I wanted to give details!
As for the wedding, it was fun! We had a great time celebrating the happy couple and hanging out with a bunch of friends we don’t get to see that often. 🙂
The wedding was about an hour or so from Matt’s parent’s house; the other couples all stayed over at a hotel nearby but we didn’t want to leave Riese overnight (Matt’s parents were babysitting while we were at the wedding) so I was our DD and drove us back after the reception ended. As fun as it would have been to stick around, this felt like the right call!
On Sunday morning, after having a light breakfast and playing with Riese for awhile, Matt and I headed out for another run date! Nice to get in some movement before sitting in the car for awhile. We did about 4 miles or so I think – I didn’t have my watch on! Quick photo break with the pretty creek:
Matt’s dad made us french toast and fried eggs for brunch when we returned:
We spent the rest of the day playing and relaxing. We decided to leave around 5 so we could spend most of the day hanging out, and so that Riese would sleep for part of the drive. Shortly before leaving we had an early dinner of some sandwiches.
The drive home was uneventful – I fed Riese right before we left and then she got a bottle while in the car. We swapped off driving and sitting in the back with Riese, and listened to some podcasts. It was a late one – we didn’t get home until around 10 – but worth it for some extra time with Matt’s fam!
I’ll see you guys back here on Thursday with a new recipe – some summery shrimp and pineapple kabobs!
