Hello and happy Thursday! I’m so glad you guys enjoyed reading about my strawberry adventures in California! I could go for some strawberries right about now… how about you guys? 🙂
Speaking of my trip to the strawberry farm, I wanted to give some love to something I wore while out there: these fun Reebok Skyscape shoes.
I had the opportunity to try out these shoes as part of a sponsored campaign with FitFluential and Reebok, and I decided that the strawberry farm tour would be the perfect time to try them because they are machine washable! Cool, huh? This was a very good thing because they definitely got dirty in the fields!
As for what I thought about the shoes, I really liked them! I wore them all day on the farm tour and on traveling days at the airport, too, and they were extremely comfortable. What I like best is that they are really flexible and super lightweight (only 5 ounces).
A fun fact: the Skyscapes are crafted using materials and the same soft molding process used to create lingerie. Comfort FTW! They have a foam upper for softness/flexibility, low cut design for mobility, are seamless so there’s no rubbing/irritation, and have rubber accents for traction. I felt they supported my feet well all day, too. And most importantly, they are also cute! They come in a few other fun colors (hot pink, gray, blue, etc.) in addition to the lavender ones I received.
If you’re interested in picking up a pair of the Reebok Skycapes yourself, you can buy them online or in stores (Reebok FitHubs or outlet stores, and some Kohls – find a store here). I found they ran true to normal sizing, fyi.
Thanks again to Reebok and FitFluential for the opportunity to try the Skyscapes out! Check out their fun styling website for more ideas on how to wear them. Apparently I missed the memo on rolling up my pant legs. 😉 Will have to try some of their outfit combinations next time! I think they’d be super cute with white capris – I’m currently coveting these from my fave store. Memorial Day, are you here yet?
Anyway! Back to the food. One of the highlights this week was Tuesday night’s dinner!
Our friends John & Erin welcomed their first baby a couple months ago so we headed to their place to cook them dinner and get some QT time with their new little one, adorable miss Madelyn (Ellie for short). Here we are admiring how tiny and cute her hands and fingernails are. 🙂
For appetizers, we brought over the wine pictured above – a really delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Steeplechase – plus some cheese, sausage, and crackers (I’m currently obsessed with these crackers – SO good!).
On the main dinner menu was one of our old favorites, Apple & Sage Pork Chops.
This recipe is so easy and awesome. Matt started the meat by searing it in a pan and then moved it to the oven. Worked great!
As for my job, I drank wine handled the veggie side dish – roasted brussels sprouts! (Here’s how to make brussels sprouts delicious.)
Et voila! Dinner is served. This meal got rave reviews from John and Erin, I’m happy to say. 🙂
And now, back to work! I hope you all have had a fabulous day. I’m loving the warmer temps we’ve been having (FINALLY) this week in DC – I didn’t even need a coat when I left the house early this morning to teach at GW! I’ve also been taking advantage this week by taking work calls outside so I can walk during them. Such a nice change from being cooped up indoors all day! It’s amazing what a little sunshine will do for your mood and stress levels. 🙂
See you guys tomorrow for a recap of this week’s workouts!
