Sauteed String Beans with Garlic
I’m a huge fan of recipes where I can throw a few ingredients into a pan and whip them up in a matter of minutes. Bonus points for minimal prep time.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll love this recipe for sauteed string beans with garlic! I like to add a little lemon zest too, to bring out the freshness and flavor.
I also love how fancy these look (without all the fuss!). Perfect for a special occasion or holiday, especially if you don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen.
String beans, also known as green beans or snap beans, are a great source of vitamins A, C, and K. They also contain folic acid and fiber.
Hot tip: if you’re using canned beans (rather than fresh or frozen), you should rinse them before use. This removes some of the excess sodium. And if you buy string beans fresh, they’ll keep best if you refrigerate them in a bag.
Now, let’s move on to how to make this fabulous side dish!
Recipe Ingredients
This sauteed green bean recipe is super simple! Here’s what you’ll need:
- string beans
- olive oil
- garlic
- lemons
- salt & pepper
How to Cook String Beans
String beans are super easy and quick to cook on the stove.
First, drizzle some olive oil into a pan and set it to medium heat. Toss in some minced garlic and saute until fragrant.
Then, add your string beans to the pan. Cook, while stirring, for a minute or two, until they’ve reached your desired level of done-ness.
Add cracked pepper and salt to taste, then sprinkle a little lemon juice and zest from the peel over the string beans. Mix and serve!
Only have frozen green beans? No problem! Here’s how to cook frozen green beans (so they don’t get mushy)!
