Hi friends! It’s rainy in DC today but I had a fun morning – my friends Kathleen, Chelsea, Karen, and I all made it to the 7 a.m. boot camp class at Urban Athletic Club – PARTYYYY! Waking up at 6:10 sucks a lot less when you know you’ll be meeting up with a bunch of buddies. 🙂
I’m so lucky to have friends who are up for having early morning workout dates! Graham was teaching this morning’s class, which was fun since I hadn’t taken one of his classes in ages. We’re pictured above in the middle of a Turkish Get Up – have you guys tried that move before? We did it during “half time” as a skill building exercise and I had him take a picture of the 4 of us doing it again after class as a little reenactment!
As for the rest of the class, it was great, as always! A good mix of strength and cardio utilizing body weight, actual weights, kettle bells, TRX, etc.
Karen, Kathleen and I grabbed breakfast after at Le Pain Quotidien – I usually stick to a pretty standard work schedule, but sometimes it’s nice to take advantage of my flexibility and start the workday a little later. 🙂
I enjoyed one of their seasonal specials – a goat cheese and butternut squash frittata. Yum! I love a good frittata. It made me want to whip up a batch of my old fave Crustless Quiche with Spring Vegetables and add butternut squash!
I’m working from home today because I have a client meeting over lunch here in Virginia so it doesn’t make sense to go downtown. I’ve been working downtown the rest of the week though – getting out of the house is good for my mental health. 🙂 I’ve had some fun lunch dates, too! On Tuesday, I met up with a friend who I used to work in PR with, Sarah, for sushi at Nooshi – love that spot. We shared four rolls plus some unpictured edamame.
And yesterday, my dietitian buddy Sarah and I enjoyed a long lunch break – we hit up a restorative noon yoga class at Epic Yoga and then grabbed Sweetgreen and sat out in Dupont Circle enjoying the sunshine. Most beautiful day!
The long lunch was especially nice because I started work early (~7:45) with an AnneTheRD client meeting and then stayed at the office downtown until 7 p.m. because Matt was coming down to meet me for dinner. I didn’t get any photos, but we went to Boqueria, which is delicious. After, we headed over to the National Christmas tree – as you know, I saw it the night before, but Matt hadn’t seen it yet this year and wanted to. 🙂
And now, back to work! Zara is making it a little hard, though – why is it that cats always want to snuggle when you don’t want to?! She always wants to be in my lap when I’m trying to work – but never at night when we’re relaxing and would love to have her cuddle with us! I have entitled the following masterpiece: “It’s Zara’s world and I’m just living in it.”
I kept putting her down on the floor and she’d hop right back up like “Oh, sorry, I don’t think you meant to do that, right? I’m back, don’t worry. Let’s snuggle!!” And anytime I’d give up, let her stay, and try to type she’d put her paw on my hand to stop me. Lol! I finally had to move to my standing desk to finish this post. 😉
Have a great day, guys!
p.s. Happy National Maple Syrup Day! (Yep, there’s a day for everything…) Celebrate by snacking on my Salty Maple Nut Energy Bites or Healthy Peanut Butter Power Cookies (<- great holiday gift too!), or by sipping on Matt’s Maple Cinnamon Latte.
