Good morning guys! I hope those of you in Houston area are staying safe in the hurricane… thinking of you. <3
It’s still feeling more like fall than August over here, which inspired me to rock some pumpkin-y breakfasts over the past few days. Did you know that my favorite flour free breakfast pancake recipe also has a pumpkin variation? Here it is: Gluten Free Pumpkin Pancake Recipe. It even has a little recipe video to show you how to make it! I decided to bring it back on Sunday morning – just as delicious as I remembered. I added some raw rolled oats (about 1/4 cup – add a little extra pumpkin if it’s too dry) to the mix for this variation, too – I like that chew!
It can be made in the microwave, too – just microwave 3 to 4 minutes or until cooked through, et voila! I made the microwave variation this morning and topped it with some cottage cheese and blueberries. This time I just added the oats on top!
Before crushing my microwave pancake this morning, I was working up a sweat with Kathleen and Chelsea! Workout buddies are the best – there’s NO way I’d still be going to boot camp/strength classes at 28 weeks pregnant without the motivation from these two. We are loving Next Phase Studio (in Arlington, via ClassPass <- affiliate link for $30 off) – their instructors are great about giving me modifications and it’s always a tough, varied circuit workout!
I’m modifying most everything to be low impact now just because jumping doesn’t feel great/seem smart, and of course I’m avoiding anything on my back or stomach as well. It actually hasn’t been that hard to come up with modification ideas (with the instructor’s assistance) though – there’s always something I can still do that challenges me safely! I’m also dialing down the speed/intensity of everything – not trying to push myself to the max right now, obviously!
Anyway – I’m working from home today and in addition to some AnneTheRD client calls, one of the big things on my to do list is to move over to a new recipe plugin! It’s time to move on from Recipage (there are some technical details that won’t be compatible with an update I need to do on my site’s back end, and I feel like it’s time to update to a newer/more user friendly plugin, anyway). While I’m in the process of switching, I’d love some feedback from you guys! Questions for you:
- What do you like/not like about my current recipe page (both the category page with the lists under each category, as well as the Recipage searchable recipe page)? The category page will likely stay even with the new recipe plugin, but the Recipage searchable one will go away and be potentially replaced by another searchable page, unless you guys think the category page I already have suffices?
- If you have strong preferences either way, I’d love to hear how I can make my recipe page and recipe search functions more user-friendly for you guys! If you have examples of blogs that have awesome recipe pages, please share links to those, too!
- Any other thoughts, perhaps about how the recipes appear within blog posts? (For an example, check out my old fave Hard Boiled Egg and Cheddar Muffins blog post – the recipe is near the end of the post). Anything you especially like included in recipes besides the obvious ingredients, how much it makes, print function, etc? I’m not adding nutritional info (you guys know I’m not a fan of calorie counting, so this doesn’t feel like an appropriate thing to add to my recipes when I’m promoting intuitive eating), but otherwise open to suggestions!
Thank you in advance for your feedback! 🙂
