Well friends, it’s official — I am DONE with the coursework portion of my Masters of Public Health in Nutrition here at UNC-Chapel Hill! How time flies. It seems like FOREVER ago that I was just starting the long road of prerequisites with Chem 1 and 2, taking the GRE, and applying to schools… but at the same time I feel like it has all flown by. It’s pretty crazy that 3 years ago I basically knew nothing about science and yesterday, I took an advanced biochemistry final exam. How things have changed!
Before the exam yesterday, I met my girls Lauren and Elle for one last morning run. It feels like summer out there — even by 7 a.m. it was already HOT and humid!
Oh hi, awkward morning photo
We did our usual very hilly 4-ish mile loop, chatting away the whole time. Can’t say I’m sorry it’s the last time I’ll have to run the mile long hill of death. 😉
Splits:
- Mile 1: 9:43 (endless hill of death)
- Mile 2: 9:01
- Mile 3: 8:27
- Mile 4: 8:51
Total time: 37:53. Average pace: 8:58. We had a great run, even with all the hills — I’ll really miss having these two as early morning running buddies! 🙁 After the run, I spent the rest of the morning cramming for the biochem exam at noon, and then, 1.5 hour of intense writing later… and I was free!!!!
Immediately after the exam, it was time to celebrate.
I’ll see some of the girls again tonight for a yoga + dinner date, but some of them were leaving today, so we made sure to have one last hurrah yesterday with all of us together. After the test was over, all of us (+ Matt and Elle’s man, Rob) met at Elle’s house aka “The Clubhouse” for some grilling, swilling, and chilling.
Gosh, I’m going to miss these girls. I couldn’t have asked for a better group to go through grad school with. (Kort, we missed you!)
It makes me so sad to think I won’t be seeing them every day anymore!
We spent about 3 hours at Elle’s laughing, eating, and sipping on champagne (/beer for the boys). Since it was approximately 800 degrees out yesterday, I decided it was the perfect occasion to bust out the new dress that my friends over at Five Bamboo sent me to review for the blog! This is called the Hopscotch dress and I’m in love with it.
It’s super comfy and soft, fits nicely, AND it has pockets. Dresses with pockets > dresses without pockets. Fact of life.
It also has a racerback, which I love!
A big thank you to Five Bamboo for the dress — it’s my new favorite. 🙂 (Psssst: if you’re buying anything on their website, enter the code “fannetasticbamboo” for 15% off!)
The rest of last night was spent at the Durham Bulls game!
The weather cooled off and we had quite a nice night for baseball watching. Jill and Lauren’s men joined us as well, so we had quite the crew!
What a fun last day with all of my grad school buddies. We’re already planning a weekend beach reunion for this summer — and of course we have a built in reunion with our wedding in October!
Anyway, it’s time to buckle down over here — Matt and I need to spend the day packing and starting to load our UHaul because we push off for DC tomorrow! Gah.
Have a great Wednesday, friends!
