Hello! I’m back in D.C. after a wonderful day and night in Philadelphia visiting my college BFF Turner. 🙂 (We missed you, Kris!)
I maintain that the best way to see a city is running. Turner and I got up early today and went for a 5 mile run through the city and over the Ben Franklin Bridge. It was soo beautiful — amazing views!
I’ve visited her a million times and I can’t believe we’d never done this run together before!
Whew! We were able to maintain an average 9 min/mile pace and finished in about 45 minutes. The hill up the bridge — and back up on the other end — was killer, but so worth it. Plus, what goes up… must come down, right? 😉
Post-run breakfast = a homemade bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a toasted whole wheat bagel! YUM! Thanks Turner 🙂
Other highlights of the weekend included having my first “Vietnamese Hoagie” yesterday — apparently they are really popular in Philly right now!
I got a vegetarian one that came with tofu, carrot, jicama, taro, yam, potato, vermicelli noodles, bean curd, leeks, cilantro, etc.
It was like Pho in a sub!! Soooo good. 🙂
And the rest of yesterday was spent enjoying the beautiful city on foot while doing some (window) shopping! It was chilly, but sunny 🙂
I’m off to enjoy the rest of this gorgeous Saturday with Matt! I feel like I haven’t seen him in forever! We have a hot date tonight involving wine tasting and a haunted forest 🙂
