Hello, my friends! As you know, Matt and I were in North Carolina this weekend for my grad school friend Jill’s wedding. It was so great to be back – it still feels like home there. If you’re new to the blog, I graduated with my Masters of Public Health in Nutrition from UNC Chapel Hill in December. Matt and I lived in the area for 2 years and while there, I made an incredible group of friends. Obviously I really love D.C., but I’ll always have a special spot in my heart for my time at UNC and in Chapel Hill. I really miss it there! Life just felt a little slower, a little simpler, and a little friendlier there.
We were hoping to make it in time for Fridays on the Front Porch at the Carolina Inn (my favorite thing ever), but sadly traffic was so bad it took us hours longer than usual to get down there on Friday. Bummer! Instead, we had a quick pizza dinner at Panzanella in Carrboro with our friend Matt. Love that restaurant!
On Saturday morning, I returned to my most favorite yoga studio ever: Franklin Street Yoga!
Lori, the owner and my favorite instructor, was teaching a 9 a.m. hour and a half vinyasa class and it was as good as I remembered. They’re in a new location now – I liked the new space, once I found it! (Totally showed up at the old spot and had to call them like – um, where are you?) Apparently they are starting up a Thursday night run club – I would have been all over that when I lived there! 🙂
From there, it was off to brunch with the grad school ladies at Foster’s Market, another favorite in the area. We were all too busy catching up to get a group photo, but I enjoyed this beautiful latte and the breakfast burrito (eggs, black beans, avocado, cheese, potatoes, salsa, happiness):
After brunch we all headed to Raleigh for the wedding!
The ladies and I all got the memo on the bright colors, apparently. 🙂 I was rocking a new dress from South Moon Under!
I missed these ladies. <3
Congratulations again to Jill & Danny!
On Sunday morning, Matt, my friend Lauren, and I all went on a run around Raleigh before heading out. 6 miles later and we were sweaty and rejuvenated. 🙂
My running buddy Karen lent me her Garmin Forerunner 110 for the weekend so I could try it out. I liked it but I still like my old garmin watch (the Forerunner 305) better – I missed the big screen and all the different stats on one page during the run! But it was nice to be wearing a much daintier sized watch. 🙂
Our final stop on our NC weekend adventures was Jessee’s Coffee & Bar in Carrboro, one of my very favorites in the area.
Old photo – sadly the sky was gray and rainy, not Carolina blue, this weekend!
Matt and I met our friends Tim & Lindsey and Matt & Sarah, plus their adorable toddlers, there for brunch. Again – we were too busy chatting to get a group picture – but it was great to see them!
I got my standard favorite – the open faced biscuit sandwich (eggs, tomato, roasted turkey, cheese on a biscuit). It’s amazing. I would seriously consider moving back just for this sandwich…
Such a fun weekend! Matt and I arrived back in DC last night and now it’s back to the daily grind. I hope you all had a nice weekend, too! Any great runs/adventures to report? Do share! 🙂
p.s. Thank you for the fun feedback regarding what to keep from my first Stitch Fix shipment! I ended up giving Matt the final call and he voted I keep the jeans but send back the shirt – it was “too flowy” according to him. Fair enough! 🙂
p.p.s. I updated my Mosaic District post with the giveaway winners – check and see if you are one of them! Thanks to all who entered!
