Good morning and happy Labor Day!
I hope you all enjoyed your weekends and are still on vacation today and not laboring. 🙂 Matt and I had a wonderful weekend here in DC — a good mix of relaxing and productive. On Friday night, we used a Living Social adventure deal I bought awhile ago for a twilight kayaking trip out of Jack’s Boathouse in Georgetown.

It was SUCH a cool time to be out on the water. We headed out at 6:30 p.m. and not only was the weather perfect — not too hot, not too cold — but it was so clear out and the sunset from the water was stunning.
I brought my waterproof camera along to get the photos, in case you’re wondering. 🙂
The kayaking trip was 1.5 hours and took us down by the monuments, back up around Roosevelt Island and aways down past the boathouse, and back. I wish my camera had done better in dim lighting because the moon by the monuments was so stunning in person!
Soon, the sun started to set.
It was so cool to be out on the water in the dark. The lights on the bridges and in the city were so pretty in contrast!
What a fun night. Definitely a Living Social deal win!
Have you ever gone kayaking in the dark? Matt and I did once before when on vacation in Puerto Rico in one of the famous bioluminescent bays — it was REALLY cool, but also kind of scary because it was pretty much completely pitch black and we were in some really narrow passageways for part of it!
