I had such a wonderful weekend away – a few of my best blogging buddies and I were treated to a girl’s weekend at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut! We planned this trip months ago and it ended up working out perfectly that I needed to be up in the area for the Reebok event the day before anyway, so when the event was over, Tina, Julie, and I drove on down to Mohegan where we met up with Theodora and Elizabeth!
A few of us were here back in January for the Mohegan Sun Winefest; it was fun to be back! Mohegan is kind of like a mini Vegas. So much going on. And I loved that it was already Christmas there. 😉
It was definitely one of the best weekends I’ve had in awhile – so nice to just get away from my computer and have some time with my girls. The best part of the weekend was of course the company, but what we were up to was really fun, too. Here are some of the highlights!

Biking in Mystic, Ct
Knowing that we love outdoorsy exercise, Mohegan set us up with a fun adventure on Saturday morning – a biking tour of beautiful nearby Mystic, Connecticut! We came here back in January, too – it was great to be back. Isn’t Mystic adorable?!
Mohegan set us up with a tour with Mystic Bike Rentals. Would highly recommend them if you’re in the area. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable about the area, too!
Rich and June, a husband and wife team, were our fearless leaders for the adventure. We bike all along the water while Rich told us about the history of the area. Very interesting!
We ended up at a Cider Mill! Cutest. Place. Ever. I’m obsessed with places like this.
Mmm… fall apples!
So. Cute.
Cider making in progress:
We all hung out and enjoyed some cider before heading back to Mystic. I also got an apple cider donut – my favorite!
Thanks to Mystic Bike Rentals for the awesome outing!

The Mohegan Sun Spa
Another big highlight of the weekend was that Mohegan treated us each to a service of our choice in their spa! I went for the hot stone massage and it was incredible. According to the masseuse, I either need to a) work less on my computer, or b) get more consistent massages, because my shoulders were a total disaster. Among the tightest she’s ever seen. Fail. She actually had to abandon the stones for a little while to get in there on my back. Ouch! Hurts so good.
After our massages, we all hung out in the sauna and their “relaxation room” for awhile. This was hands down my favorite part of the weekend. No phones, no distractions… just me and the girls.

Dinner at Todd English’s Tuscany
On Saturday night, Mohegan treated the 5 of us and a few other local bloggers to a delicious dinner at Tuscany, Todd English’s restaurant in Mohegan Sun.
Getting ready was practically just as much fun as actual dinner! It was nice to have an excuse to dress up for once, and we had ages to get ready, so the girls and I were all trying each other’s makeup (well, mostly Julie’s makeup, since she’s a pro). Julie is also a genius with a straightener and used it to curl me, Theodora, and Tina’s hair. Julie, please come live in our apartment so you can do my hair every day. Cool? 🙂
Dinner was delicious and we had a great time chatting with the other bloggers there, too. Here I am with Caitlin:
And here’s the whole group!

Michelle, the social media manager for Mohegan, also joined us for dinner. Great group of people!
I have to say, if you are ever at Mohegan Sun, please go to Tuscany. By far my favorite restaurant of the few I’ve tried in the hotel. Everything was AMAZING.
Appetizer deliciousness – antipasto platter, calamari, and flatbread:
The wine was equally amazing – we had a pairing with each course. My favorite was the reds!
For dinner, I had the tuscan salad, the linguini & clams, and the crispy salmon. I had tastes of everything and tried to pace myself – I definitely didn’t finish all of any of this even though it was all so good! I also tried a bit of someone else’s steak and it was phenomenal.
Dessert was even more phenomenal! I’m not usually a chocolate person (I know, crazy), and even less of a chocolate cake person, but the fallen chocolate cake was seriously one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Insane. They also brought out a plate of cannolis, Italian cookies, biscotti, and sfogliatelle. Omg.
We had big plans to go out to one of the clubs in the hotel after dinner, but as you can probably guess, after all that food and wine we decided getting into PJ’s and chatting in the room was a better option. 😉
Thank you again to Mohegan Sun for treating us to such a nice weekend! I came back feeling refreshed and ready to tackle this week. I’ve been busy working on my masters paper and accompanying presentation all week – I had another call to talk about edits on Monday with my advisor. I’m hoping I can finish up the paper and make at least a first draft of the PowerPoint by the end of today. We’ll see! It’s officially due early next week and I’ll be presenting it at UNC on Wednesday.
Happy almost Thanksgiving! I’m gearing up for a fun turkey trot tomorrow morning – my fave!
