Hi guys! I hope you had nice weekends – nice long holiday weekends, for my American readers! Here are some of the highlights from ours.
We had friends over for a BBQ on Friday evening to kick off the long weekend! First up: an epic cheese, meat, crackers, and fruit (plus some hummus peeking out on the left) spread. We got that huge wood board as a wedding gift and it’s perfect for appetizers when we have guests!
The main event was burgers courtesy of Chef Matt. We also had corn, and a really yummy caprese salad (with corn and avocado added) that our friends Lily and James brought. Delicious – going to have to recreate that! It was just dressed with a little olive oil and a splash of balsamic.
We had leftover burgers so Matt and I had them another night for dinner, plus some roasted asparagus (dressed with a little oil, salt, and pepper and roasted at 350 for about 12 minutes) and leftover corn.
Other food highlights included some yummy brunches – my fave meal of the day. 😉 One day we had an egg scramble with lots of veggies and bacon, plus some unpictured toast:
And another day we had some delicious BLTs with fried eggs, cheese, avocado, and orange slices on the side.
As for fitness this weekend, we did lots of family walks. Some around the neighborhood, plus one at Roosevelt Island with friends!
I also made it out for a run date one morning while Matt had some nice daddy-daughter time with Riese.
I met my college friend Sarah in Georgetown and we did an out and back along the Capital Crescent Trail. So good to catch up with her! 🙂
It was reeeeally hot and humid out so we did some running and some walking. 🙂 My watch just shows the running portion – we did about an additional mile of walking.
As I mentioned last week, our nanny is on vacation this week so I’m using it as a nice opportunity to spend some extra time with my little love. I wanted to pop in today with a quick weekend recap, and I have a blog post pre-scheduled to go live on Thursday morning, but I’ll be for the most part taking this week off work, so things will be a bit quiet over here. 🙂
I will leave you with a little collage of photos from this morning – Riese and I hit up the Stroller Strides Arlington workout group! They have a first class free offer and I was curious to try it to see how it compared to Stroller Strong Moms (aka SLAM DC), which I had already tried. It was really similar, so if you’re curious about the groups I’d just go for whichever one has the most convenient location for you. 🙂 Riese wasn’t loving the stroller so I did most of the workout holding her – she made a good stand in dumbbell and we both had fun!
See you guys back here on Thursday with some recipe fun – and then next week! Have a good one guys!
