You guys know I’m a big fan of having fashion delivered to my doorstep in a box, so when the team at Le Tote reached out to me about doing a review I was all about it. Le Tote is unique in that they are a fashion rental company – so instead of receiving new clothes/accessories that you buy, they send you stuff to rent! You wear the items and then when you’re finished, you send them back and get new stuff. Cool, right?
In a nutshell, here’s the deal: Le Tote is $49 per month, and when you sign up you will receive a tote that contains 3 garments and 2 accessories. Keep the tote as long as you want, then when you have worn the items and are ready for a new tote, simply send it all back! No need to wash the clothes – they do that for you – and shipping is free via a prepaid return envelope that is included in your tote. When they receive your tote, a new one will be styled and shipped right away. You can do this as often as you want – meaning you can get a tote, wear everything in one day, and then send it back the next – or keep the tote for awhile.
What if you really love something and want to keep it forever? Anything you want to buy, just hold onto it, send the rest of the tote back, and your card on file will be charged for the items you keep (items are sold at a discount from normal pricing, too).
When you sign up for Le Tote, they will ask you to fill out a size/style profile and “heart” some of the pieces in their inventory to add them to your closet.
You can also tell them anything you’d like to avoid, which I thought was cool.
Then, you’re ready to get your first tote! A stylist will curate your tote with items from your closet and other items that fit your style. Once it has been styled, you’ll get an email that lets you know your tote will be shipped shortly – and – this is awesome – gives you the opportunity to swap out items, fix sizing, etc. (There is detailed information on the sizing of each of the items, which was really helpful so you can make sure you’re getting stuff that actually fits – this has been a problem for me with other services in the past.)
I really loved that you are able to swap out items, too – perfect so I could think about what I had coming up/items in particular I thought I’d use at that time. Case in point: I put a romper in the tote that was coming before my birthday weekend BBQ. A romper was basically the most perfect thing to get in a fashion rental box like this, because I’ve always wanted to wear a romper, but didn’t really want to actually own one since I knew I wouldn’t wear it more than once or twice. Perfect! The necklace I’m wearing in the photo was one from the tote, too. 🙂
I think that’s the best thing about this service – you get cute new stuff to wear, but it’s not cluttering up your house. So perfect for fashion-forward and statement pieces! And of course if you get anything you really love you can just keep it, as I mentioned. I ended up buying (on my own dime) this necklace from my second tote – loved it so much! And as a fun bonus, I got an email from Le Tote saying that I would get a 6th surprise item placed in a future tote as a thank you for buying something. Cool!
Not having to do the laundry was pretty sweet, too. I was worried the items would look worn or smell weird, but everything was really fresh and seemed new.
That jean jacket got worn all over on our Europe trip – here I am rocking it in Istanbul!
So, bottom line: Le Tote is really awesome. I’m planning to continue it on my own dime once my free 3 month trial from this review runs out. I hope some of you guys will give it a shot, too!
