Thank you all for your amazing and supportive comments on my middle school bullying post. It seems like the post really hit home! I’m sad that so many of you also had tales to share, but glad to see that a lot of you learned and grew stronger from them. 🙂

Anyway… back to the food and fitness 🙂 Yesterday, LA Boxing took to the outdoors!
On Saturday mornings starting last weekend, my LA Boxing location is running a special 8-week fitness boot camp. They run these throughout the year — the last one was in the spring.
Remember all my previous personal training (PT) posts?
- PT week 1: a kick-butt conditioning workout
- PT week 2: boxing and self defense moves
- PT week 3: dripping sweat, but still laughing!
- PT week 4: full body conditioning
- PT week 5: bring on the tank tops!
- PT week 6: conditioning-palooza!
- PT week 7: speed demon
- PT week 8: the revenge of the tire
- PT week 9: learning to FIGHT!
This boot camp is basically like a longer personal training session! It’s an hour and a half and it’s really hard but also really fun, since you have others to complain to 🙂
Heh love everyone’s faces in that photo!
The best thing about boot camps like this is that every week is really different! Last Saturday it was raining, so we stayed indoors and did a lot of personal training type moves. Yesterday, we hit the outdoors for a run!
We have two instructors for the boot camp — the fearless Jerome and Sergio:
Having two instructors is key when out on a run like this with a big group of people at varying fitness levels. This way, some can go ahead, some can stay behind — and everyone gets a great workout!
Jerome and Sergio had us run out from LA Boxing about 2 miles down to the outskirts of DC. Once there, we did all sorts of lunges, squats, stairs, etc.
And then — we had to run back! It was ROUGH since it was all uphill and SUPER hot out. Sergio took me and one of the other girls up front with him and encouraged us to run as quickly as we could — I was DYING by the time we got back to the gym, but I loved really being challenged. Not gonna lie — if I’d been by myself I totally would have been walking! That’s the beauty in a group workout 🙂
If you’re interested, the boot camp is open to both LA Boxing members AND non-members. Check out the LA Boxing website for more details and to see if they’re “running” one near you! (pun intended, heh)
It’s weird that it’s a Sunday and for once I don’t have any big running plans! I just woke up, had some cereal:
And now I’m off to my favorite power yoga class — I haven’t been in AGES (like, months?!) and my body is crying for it.
Then it’s back to work! My last day of Microbiology is Tuesday and we have a take home final due, a paper due, and a big presentation to give, so I’ve just been trying to finish everything up!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

Disclaimer: Just a reminder that LA Boxing is sponsoring my blog, meaning I am receiving free membership, personal training, and access to their Saturday boot camps in exchange for blogging about them. But ya’ll know I would NEVER accept money to say I liked something I didn’t — anything I write about them is my opinion and mine only 🙂
