Hello friends!
Yesterday was a beautiful day for a ROAD TRIP!
My mom and I decided to drive to Fort De Soto Park, which is about 40 minutes from Tampa at the southern tip of St. Petersburg.
The park is made up of five different interconnected islands and features some very beautiful beaches!
I love that it’s not developed at all. No condos, no stores, no restaurants… just beautiful scenery 🙂
I love all the cool birds in Florida!
After walking around the pier area, we headed to the beach 🙂
It was GORGEOUS! (And pretty much empty!)
Eeek! Jellyfish!
After our walk, my mom and I hung out on our towels for a bit in the sun!
I was rocking my other new swimsuit! Girls, I know you understand — it’s freakin’ hard to find a swimsuit that fits well, so if I find two that I like… I’m totally getting both! (My swimsuits at home are old and dead, anyway)
I especially love the top! (The bottom is plain black)
Our final adventure of the day was checking out the actual fort that Fort De Soto is named for! The post was active from 1898 to 1910 and contained batteries of artillery and mortars to protect Tampa Bay from any invading forces.
Hehe.
There were beautiful views from the top of the fort 🙂
Our last stop was this awesome tree. Heh!
What a fun day 🙂 Thanks for the adventure, mom!
Today is my last day in Tampa — sad!! I fly back to D.C. tonight and go back to work tomorrow morning. Sniff.
It’s looking like it wants to storm, but I was able to get my 6 mile training run in this morning without the skies opening up! Time to hop in the shower — my mom and I have plans to go out to lunch before I fly out!
Have a good one! And stay tuned for a fun post about our awesome dinner last night 😉
