Hello, hello!
We are getting down to the wire over here – I’ll be 36 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 in a couple days! Time feels like it’s moving more quickly now. We have our 36 week appointment later this week when we’ll find out if baby is head down, or if he’s breech like his big sister was. We’ll see!
I’m feeling pretty uncomfortable and exhausted these days, and getting really excited to finally meet our little boy soon… and also to no longer have a bowling ball smushing my bladder. 🙂
I’m not feeling up for exercise besides walking and suuuuuper gentle and short prenatal yoga online videos, but lucky for me the spring weather has been lovely lately for getting outside!

Belly is large and in charge these days, no mistaking it.
Riese is getting SO excited about her little brother coming soon… and also thinks it’s hilarious to put stickers all over my belly, as seen in the photo below with some enchiladas, rice, and black beans. 🙂
Matt and I spent pretty much the entire weekend working on getting ready for baby – I feel like all of a sudden time moved quickly and we were like, “Yikes, we need to get our acts together!”
We got all our old baby stuff out, and got Riese’s car seat moved to one side of the car (instead of the middle) so we could re-install our old convertible car seat (for infants + younger toddlers). This involved a fun game of “where are all the random newborn inserts for all these products we have?”
I posted about that on Instagram and was comforted to hear that we are not the only disorganized ones who had a hard time finding all the newborn odds and ends once the time came!
Our infant car seat + the bottom newborn insert were in the basement storage, but the head cushion newborn insert was randomly in an upstairs closet. Whoops!
We also washed the covers on all our infant gear like our bassinet, the play mat, etc. We’re using all Riese’s old stuff and figured it could use some refreshing!
Matt also got the blackout curtains installed in the baby’s room, and we did some other prep in the baby’s room, too. I’ll share an updated picture soon, but we are pretty much there with the nursery now!
And lastly I found my old postpartum/nursing gear and washed all that.
I still need to go through and organize it and put it away, but we are getting there! Going to pack our hospital bags this week too.
In bummer news, the pull out couch we ordered for guests to stay on (since our guest room got turned into baby’s room) came and it wouldn’t fit up the stairs… just an inch or two shy of being able to make the twisty turn. Ugh!
Bummer since it was really pretty and we ordered it back in December and now we’re kind of out of time (we wanted to have it now because Matt’s parents will be coming down once baby is here and staying for a bit to help out)… any recommendations for pull out couches that fit up small/twisty stairs?!
I’m going to work on a new pregnancy update post that includes my maternity leave plans/what to expect on the blog over the next few months, so stay tuned for that next week!
Anyway! We did a lot of eating out (either outside at restaurants, or ordering food) this weekend since we were so busy tackling the house stuff, but Riese did help me test out a new recipe that will be on the blog on Wednesday: lemon ricotta pancakes.
They are delicious and were a hit with all three of us. Excited to share the recipe in a couple days!
Leftovers the next morning with some yogurt, slivered almonds, and papaya (I’m OBSESSED with papaya lately, so juicy and delicious):
We also had some random leftovers/throw together meals, too. This was a rice and quinoa bowl with some feta, wilted spinach, avocado, and fried eggs.
Last night Matt had a soccer game so Riese and I went and hung out at my parent’s house for part of the afternoon, then ordered pizza for dinner from Pupatella, my Arlington fave. Yum.
Their salad with grapefruit and apple was really good, too – I wouldn’t have thought to put grapefruit on salad!
The other big excitement this weekend was I got my second vaccine shot on Saturday morning! Woo!
I was worried I wouldn’t feel great but my arm was actually way less sore than it was last time, and I didn’t have any other symptoms besides just being super tired… but I’m basically always super tired right now so it was hard to tell what was vaccine and what’s just normal for 36 weeks pregnancy. 🙂
Feeling relieved to have that done. Matt gets his second one this week, too!
And now, I will leave you with a couple deals from around the web (affiliate links, FYI):
First, for you Beautycounter fans, they are running one of their rare sales right now – now through tomorrow (April 27th), get 15% off site wide (with some exclusions) and if you spend $250 or more you’ll get 20% off.
I really love their lipstick for when I want to feel fancy, and their eye makeup brushes are lovely, too. They also have a great (and timely) nourishing hand serum that is also a hand sanitizer – win/win so your hands don’t get super dry from all the sanitizing!
Their sunscreen is also our absolute favorite – it’s not included in the 15% off sale, but it will count towards your $250 for the 20% off. Matt and I use it and we put it on Riese, too. They have a lotion version, a spray version (LOVE), and a stick version which is amazing for wiggly toddler’s faces!
It’s all excellent non-nano zinc oxide sunscreen free of biologically harmful chemicals like avobenzone, oxybenzone, paraben, phthalates, PABA, 1,4 dioxane, and UV chemical absorbers – and it’s reef friendly, too. Plus, it doesn’t leave you looking like you put white paint on.
And second, Blue Apron is currently running a flash sale, too!
Today through May 2, use this link to get $100 off over your first 5 boxes, plus you’ll get 3 months of free premium access to the Calm meditation app (which I’ve used before and love).
Zara the cat says: have a great day and don’t forget to rest. 🙂 (I love when she curls up in my leg nook like this!)
See you back here Wednesday with the pancake recipe! And in case you missed it, be sure to check out my Non-Fiction Reads book post from Friday, there are lots of other great book ideas in the comments, too!
