Hi friends! It’s been awhile since I checked in, so wanted to do so today! Life feels really all over the place so this post will be all over the place as well. 🙂
First up: Mother’s Day! In what was definitely a sort of “yep, that’s exactly motherhood for you” type moment, Matt and Riese and Wes brought me breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day, and Matt said: “Happy Mother’s Day! …also, Wes just threw up everywhere.”
Womp, womppppppp. I mean, could he have timed that more perfectly though? Sigh.
The poor little guy has some sort of GI bug that he is still fighting off nearly a week later. Oof. Been doing lots of laundry in our household but fingers crossed it seems the rest of us avoided it!
So, Mother’s Day was very low key over here. I have also been fighting a bad cold for about a week now (I feel like as a parent when I get sick it lasts forever because I can never get enough rest/sleep to kick it quickly) and it was worst over the weekend (not covid, I have tested multiple times) so we just stayed close to home.
We did have a super yummy mushroom, bacon, and feta quiche for brunch, though, thanks to Matt!

And because everything always happens at once, Riese was home from school on Monday and Tuesday due to one of her classmates testing positive for covid late last week. Obviously.
(Thankfully she had no symptoms and was testing negative every morning so was able to go back Wednesday.)
In good news, the days she was home from school we had GORGEOUS weather. Riese and I got out for not one but two morning hiking adventures and it was a nice treat to get some time with her even though I got super behind on work!
Please note the one pant leg rolled up situation. For some reason this is her signature look. Lol.
A couple weeks ago, pre-sickness and covid closures, Matt and I had a really nice date night in Old Town Alexandria. It’s been our go-to recently for date nights when the weather is good because it’s so lovely being by the water!
Love those dock sunset views.
Also, this is the latest art installation (they change it out frequently) – fun! The world can always use more messages of love.
I didn’t get any pictures of our meal out in Old Town, but if you’re in the northern Virginia area and like Indian food, I must recommend Spice Kraft Indian Bistro here in Del Ray.
I’ve been there twice now and it’s phenomenal.
And that’s all I have for you today! My in laws are arriving tonight to help out as Matt leaves super early tomorrow morning for a week long Grand Canyon rafting trip.
I’m feeling super jealous, not gonna lie. I could really use a break and an adventure right about now as I’m so burned out and worn down.
But I’m excited for him, and I have a trip to the beach with some girl friends planned over a long weekend in July, so I’m trying to remember that that is coming in a couple months.
I will end this post by saying that I can’t believe my little man is going to be 1 year old in just a couple weeks. This was the best I could get for an 11 month photo earlier this month… he was too excited about the blocks!
Have a great weekend, friends, and see you back here next week.
