Hello, hello! We kicked off our weekend on Friday night with some time at the pool followed by takeout pizza from Mambo Italia in Sewickley.
Paired with some homemade salad and a beer. Friday night perfection! Mambo’s pizza was awesome, too – I loved the thin, bubbly crust.

And yes, my plastic cup has my name labeled on it – that’s because we kept going through 500 cups per day between the 7 of us! So now we each have our own labeled cups so we don’t keep losing them and grabbing new ones and running the dishwasher nonstop. 😉
On Saturday morning, Matt and I had a run date! It was so nice out – cool and sunny. I think it was 63 degrees when we started!
We ended our run at our favorite local coffee shop, Adesso Cafe, for iced lattes! We walked around briefly and then masked up and headed to the farmer’s market to meet Riese and my in-laws and hitch a ride home.
Matt’s aunt and uncle came to visit on Saturday for lunch so we had beautiful cobb salads made by my father-in-law.
They had cucumber, bleu cheese, hard boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, and onion. Very tasty!
I don’t have any pictures of Saturday’s dinner because we ended up meeting a couple friends out in a big park/field and having random snacky foods for dinner. It was a fun night, and Riese had a blast too!
On Sunday morning, we had my Overnight Crockpot French Toast Casserole!
I was supposed to prep it on Saturday night for everyone but after we got home I ended up working until 9:30 to try to catch up a bit and then totally forgot about it until Sunday morning. Whoops!
But luckily my father-in-law had remembered to prep it for us – thank you to him! He had a little help from a pint-sized sous chef as he topped it off with the butter and sugar in the morning before cooking it!
We topped it with blueberries and walnuts and served it with some bacon, fruit, and scrambled eggs.
Since the rest of the weekend was pretty busy, we had a chill day yesterday which was nice – we took some walks and stayed close to my in-law’s house.
Riese really likes walking their dog, Millee – and unlike our dog, Millee is too small to pull really hard and knock Riese flat. 😉
(In case you’re wondering, our dog is still on The Best Vacation Ever with my parents – she gets approximately 6 walks a day and is loving life. Our cat Zara is there partying, too, just while we are up here in Pittsburgh! Thank you to my parents for taking such good care of them for us!)
For dinner last night, Matt’s dad grilled us up a feast!
We had two different kinds of fish – halibut and sea bass – and one had an orange cilantro sauce and the other had a buttery, lemony Herbes de Provence topping. Both were really good, but the cilantro orange sea bass was my favorite!
Served with buttery delicious farmers’ market corn, peaches and yogurt, and a yummy eggplant, pesto, tomato, and mozzarella stack topped with a little balsamic and basil. The eggplant/tomato stacks were briefly baked so the cheese melted and they were incredibly delicious! I don’t normally love eggplant but I really loved those.
After dinner, my sister-in-law Morgana and I watched “Becoming”, the documentary that follows Michelle Obama as she tours following the release of her book by the same name.
I read her book and absolutely loved it, and we loved the documentary too. She is so incredibly inspiring and such a wonderful role model.
Have a nice day, my friends, and I’ll see you back here on Wednesday with a nutrition-themed post!
