Hey friends! I got in another fun DC cherry blossom run yesterday – my grad school friend Lauren didn’t fly out until late afternoon, which gave us plenty of time to get in a cherry blossom jaunt in the morning!
I first ran the cherry blossoms over the weekend as part of my last long run for cherry blossom 10 miler training (it’s this coming weekend!); this time, though, we had the blossoms all to ourselves! Quite the nice change from Saturday’s crazy crowds. 🙂
Lauren and I parked at Iwo Jima in Rosslyn, then ran over Memorial Bridge and straight to the tidal basin. It was a cloudy morning but the grey skies actually looked cool with the pink blossoms.
We spent about 20 minutes walking around, taking photos, and enjoying the scenery. 🙂
Such a fun way to spend the morning with my friend! We ended up covering just over 3 miles, not including the walking around at the tidal basin. 🙂
Post-run, we showered up and then hit Sweetgreen for lunch with Matt, who was working from home yesterday. Yum – always hits the spot!
After lunch, we headed into the city! Lauren met up with our friend Steph to check out the Spy Museum, while Matt and I headed to the Hirshhorn Museum because Matt snagged us tickets for the super popular Infinity Mirrors exhibit!
It was really cool, although the lines were crazy long so we had to wait ages for each of the exhibits. The one below had the longest line, but luckily it turned out to be our favorite so it was worth it!
After the museum adventure, we met back up with Lauren, headed back to Arlington, and then I took her to the airport. I was so sad to say goodbye – thank you for coming to visit, Lauren! Missing you already!
As for last night, Matt and I finally cooked a meal at home after a weekend of eating out! On the menu: steak lettuce wraps a la Sun Basket (<- affiliate link for 3 free meals). We added some black beans to the mix because we had some on hand to use up – delicious addition! Loved these. Also, yay for natural light at dinnertime – and for getting to eat outside!
It’s back to work today – have a good one, my friends!
