Hi friends!
We are at almost 38 weeks over here and getting more and more excited every day to welcome baby boy soon! I’m so curious if he will come early or be a little late… only time will tell!

As I shared in my 37 week pregnancy update blog post that included my maternity leave plans, today will be my last lifestyle/live update blog post until the fall!
But: please continue to check in because every Wednesday for the next few months I have a new recipe post (or recipe round up post) ready for you! There’s a lot of yumminess you won’t want to miss.
I will miss checking in live with you all, but I’m looking forward to taking a step back and being present as our family grows and changes. Feel free to follow me on Instagram if you want some updates on how we are doing – I’m sure I’ll post updates occasionally (in addition to my pre-written and scheduled shares promoting the Wednesday recipe posts). 🙂
And now, for a weekend recap! Matt, Riese, and I had a nice weekend getting lots of fresh air and celebrating Mother’s Day.
On Sunday, we went over to my parent’s house for brunch, which was lovely.
In addition to us and my parents, my grandmother was also able to come; it was the first time we had seen her in over a year and it was SO nice to give her a hug and to have Riese see her again, too.
Good times had by all, and good food, too! Fruit salad, roasted potatoes, a delish apple pastry, smoked salmon and bagels, and a bacon and cheddar frittata!
All ordered from a local caterer so my mom could relax and enjoy the holiday (and not cook for all of us), too.
Matt and I got sent home with the rest of the frittata and the apple pastry and I have been enjoying the leftovers. 🙂
As for Saturday brunch, we grabbed food outdoors at Evening Star cafe after Riese played soccer – we both had the egg sandwich but it was just okay (it was randomly on a burger bun and not very creative), but it was nice to be out and about!
Saturday evening, we headed to our friends Lily and James’s house – we hadn’t seen them in ages and they have a son Riese’s age so it was great to get back together finally now that we’re (the grown ups, anyway) all vaccinated! Riese and their son had a blast together.
We had some yummy apps before dinner (mmmm I was all about the deviled eggs, my fave):
And for dinner Lily made a great tortellini salad with chicken, arugula, and veggies. The dressing reminded me a bit of my Creamy Italian Dressing Recipe – yummy.
We had some berry cobbler and ice cream for dessert that was also delicious but I forgot to take a picture!
The rest of the weekend was chill – I’m feeling reeeeeally low energy these days and even just a light walk really wears me out, so I tried to get as much rest as I could over the weekend.
I don’t remember feeling quite this tired at the end of my pregnancy with Riese, but maybe I’m just blocking it out? Or maybe it’s because she was smaller than this little guy’s estimated to be, and I was younger, and also not chasing a toddler… 🙂
While getting all my rest, I started and finished the book “The Last Thing He Told Me” (affiliate link) on my Kindle and it was really good – definitely recommend if you’re looking for a mystery/thriller that’s not too crazy dark or intense (can’t handle that right now with my hormones).
Last night, I started a new book – “Hunt, Gather, Parent: What Ancient Cultures Can Teach Us About the Lost Art of Raising Happy, Helpful Little Humans.” (affiliate link) I’m not too far in yet but so far finding it interesting!
And now, I will leave you with a farewell from Zara, who thinks the bassinet is now her bed. I don’t remember her trying to sleep in the bassinet last time around with Riese. Lol!
Sorry, Zara, not yours… but you can keep it warm for him until he arrives. 🙂
Have a wonderful summer, my friends, and I hope you enjoy the weekly recipes I have ready for you while I’m out!
Until September – be well and thank you for reading. <3
