Goooood morning! Has this week flown by for anyone else?
I spent all day yesterday getting a ton of work done — love super productive days like that! I took a break for a short walk in the afternoon, and then also hit up my favorite power yoga class at Franklin Street Yoga at 5:45. It was an awesome class — my legs are feeling fully recovered from the Tobacco Road Half Marathon! And speaking of, they posted official race photos! Apparently they only got one of me — I look a little pained, but nothing too bad. 😉 I was attempting to smile and give a thumbs up sign!
Compression sleeves are sexy
For lunch yesterday, I rocked one of my favorites — SARDINES! I know, cue “ewwwww.” Matt is super grossed out by sardines so I eat them when he’s not home. 😉
Sardines are awesome for you — lots of omega 3’s! I mashed them up with some garlicky olive oil, lemon juice, and dijon mustard, and then threw the mixture on top of a salad.
In the salad, I had mixed greens, some awesome spinach from a farmers market we had at school the other day (I forgot how good real spinach — e.g. not baby spinach — is! I always buy baby), green peppers, sprouts, and some salt and pepper.
Grapes on the side:
And I also ate some hummus and crackers while I was making the salad, because I waited too long to make lunch and was starved. 🙂
I also enjoyed a smoothie in the afternoon, since it’s summer outside and all.
Obsessed with my Hidden Veggie Cherry Lemon Smoothie (click for recipe). So good!
In other news, this morning marked my return to running!
It was a bit humid, but overall a nice morning for a run, except that it was pitch black when Elle and I met up at 6:45. Stupid daylight savings!
We ran 4.3 hilly miles in about 39 minutes. My legs felt good — happy to be back running again! I used the run as an opportunity to try out some fun New Balance gear (that they sent me awhile ago as part of the Reach the Beach Relay sponsorship). I am in LOVE with this shirt!
It’s SUPER lightweight (almost feels silky?) and nice and cool — perfect for humid/hot weather. Plus, it’s cute! Form fitting but not tight — perfect. I can’t stand running shirts that are too tight. I actually might buy it in white, too! I’m also in love with this other shirt that they sent me, which I wore during my half marathon Sunday — amazingly comfy the whole time.
I also rocked the shoes that New Balance sent me this morning — they have hot pink laces (as you can see above in the watch picture) and I love the soles, which are neon yellow and hot pink.
They were comfy! My old shoes are super worn out so I think I will switch to these from now on… I’ll wear them a few more times for short runs to make sure they are okay before trying them on a longer run.
Anyway, busy day ahead. Off to school I go! Happy Thursday. 🙂
