Hello and happy Saturday!
Matt and I are back in Chapel Hill after a whirlwind week in DC wedding planning and apartment hunting. It’s so nice to be home in the land of cheap rent and blue skies. 🙂 I’m going to be so, so sad to leave here.
Anyway! Matt and I spent all day yesterday roaming around Arlington and DC looking at apartments. It was exhausting but productive — we’re still debating but have a better idea of our options now. It’s hard to decide if we should just go for one of the ones we saw or try to do more research for something possibly better… we’ll see! For lunch, we were near the Ballston Sweetgreen — perfect! 🙂
This place is one reason I’m really excited to move back. 😉 I had one of my favorites — the vegan Sabzi — they must have changed the menu recently because now it’s “spicy” Sabzi and includes roasted tofu instead of white beans! It was delish.
The salad includes roasted tofu, raw beets, quinoa, sprouts, dried cranberries, and basil (totally makes this salad) — it’s topped with a carrot chili vinaigrette and I also added avocado. 🙂
Yummmmmmmmmmmm!
Matt had the chicken caesar salad made into a wrap. He was also a fan of his meal. 🙂
Matt and I finished apartment hunting around 5 and headed back to my parent’s house to make a quick dinner (sandwiches — nice and easy) and say bye to my mom before heading out.
Since I drove us around all day looking for apartments, Matt was nice enough to drive us back to North Carolina. I decided to bust out my laptop and use the opportunity to test out the tethering/mobile hot spot capability on my new Verizon Droid RAZR!

My old phone (a 2-ish year old Palm Pre) has hotspot capabilities as well, but it’s kind of slow, the service kicks me off occasionally and takes forever to connect, and it also kills the phone battery in about 45 minutes flat, which is the main issue. Even if I have my phone plugged in to charge, it will still drain the battery. Obviously still awesome for blogging on the go, but I was curious to see how the Droid hotspot compared to my old phone’s.
Well — I have to say I was VERY impressed with the Droid’s hotspot. I literally used my laptop for the whole 4.5 hour drive to try to catch up on life (1.5 hours of blog-related emails and 3 hours of schoolwork) and it was a freaking rockstar. The internet was fast, my laptop connected immediately, and the phone lasted forever, too. I had the phone plugged in to a car charger for the first couple hours of the drive and it didn’t drain the battery at all. For the last hour and a half I had the phone unplugged and it hardly drained the battery — I was down to maybe 80% when we arrived home. Amazing.
This was my view for basically the whole ride:
Good times. The Droid RAZR is seriously worth it for the tethering/hotspot capabilities alone. So convenient to have internet on my laptop via my phone whenever I need it!
Anyway! Matt and I are off to enjoy this beautiful Chapel Hill day — and to get some more DC apartment hunting done via the internet as well. Thanks to all who emailed me with apartment recommendations!
Hope you’re all having a nice day!
