Hello and happy Friday!
Last night, I busted into my recipe archives for an old favorite: Chicken & White Bean Chili Soup (click for recipe).
Love this recipe – really easy and delicious. Makes enough to freeze for later, too!
I followed my recipe except that I also added some chopped peppers and spinach to the mix, just because I had them on hand and needed to use them up. Made it nice and colorful!
Dinner is served! Plus hot sauce. 🙂
Matt was out at various happy hours this week and actually requested “lots of vegetables” for dinner, so we also had some roasted broccoli on the side. Didn’t have to tell me twice! Blurry but yummy.
In other news, I’ve been continuing to enjoy hitting up kickboxing and CrossFit at NOVA MMA/Crossfit Arlington! Reebok sent me some new gear to test out so I suited up for a kickboxing class earlier this week with my friend Lauren. Sweaty post-class photo:
On bottom, I’m wearing the PWR Bootcut Pant in Black. I LOVE these – they’re really soft – almost silky feeling – and very comfortable. Great for workouts with lots of action, squatting, stretching, etc.! Just a heads up, the pants run large so order a size down. On top, I’m wearing the PWR Wide Strap Long Bra in Solid Teal. I loved this as well – especially the fact that it was really long! It stayed put and didn’t ride up once the whole workout. I think this top would be fabulous for yoga as well!
Reebok also sent me these awesome CrossFit shoes – the RealFlex Scream 2.0 in Tin Grey/Party Purple/Solar Green. How CUTE are these?!
I love Reebok’s line of RealFlex shoes – super cute designs and really comfortable, too. They’re extremely lightweight and flexible, but they still have a little cushion and support, so they’re great for boot camps or CrossFit WODs that include a little running and jumping. I can’t say enough good things about these shoes!
I rocked my new kicks for a CrossFit class on Wednesday night:
For the strength portion of class, we worked on push jerks – working up to your 2 rep max.
If there’s anything CrossFit has taught me, it’s to check your ego, focus on form, and not be embarrassed if you’re not lifting as much or as quickly as everyone else is. I’m pretty much always, without exception, the weakest out of all the other girls in the classes I go to. No shame – everyone is just doing the best they can, including me. No point in trying something too hard and hurting myself!
Everyone was really sweet about taking off weights from the bar when it was my turn. 🙂 I made it up to 60 lbs total – way lighter than everyone else but a new best for me!
Time to pack up – Matt and I are hitting the road for Pennsylvania to go skiing this weekend! Our friend John’s family owns a ski lodge and we’ll be heading up there with John and his wife Erin and our friends Jack and Megan. Should be a good time! I’ve been to their lodge once before – way back in the day for New Years Eve 2004/05! I was 22 years old and Matt and I had just started dating. A HUGE group of us invaded the lodge for the festivities and Matt and I and some others ended up sleeping in a hallway because there were so many people there and all the rooms were taken! This time, instead of planning how many handles of alcohol we’ll be bringing, we’ve been emailing about making healthy meals while there. Oh, how times have changed. 😉
Have a great weekend, everyone!
