Good morning, my friends!
I was up bright (yay for the sun being up early now too) and early this morning for a run with friends Turner and Karen.
I’ve been doing a lot more evening workouts lately so it was a nice reminder how awesome it feels to get outside in the fresh air in the early morning and to have your workout done!
The girls and I met at 6:45 in Rock Creek area and headed out on a pretty run. Part trail, part roads, part Zoo! 🙂
My favorite part was the trails. It’s nice that it’s light enough out now at that hour that we can do trails instead of roads all the time!
Off roading! 🙂
We ended the run with the very long and steep climb up through the Zoo. It’s nearly a mile climb – just when you think you’re done because it flattens out, another hill comes up! WHEW! I was not feeling such a big hill this morning so I was glad I had the girls with me to keep me going. Definitely wouldn’t have made it up without walking had I been by myself!
We did it! 🙂
4.5 miles – check please! Great way to start the day. Our average pace was 9:13 minute/miles, which is great considering the rocky trail/creek scrambling and the massive hill at the end!
Now I’m home, showered, and about to race out the door! I have a booth at a corporate health/wellness expo today to advertise my AnneTheRD nutrition counseling services. I’ve been debating the past few weeks what to have at the table to entice people to come over. I ended up deciding handouts that they could take with them would be a good thing!
First, I printed a ton of copies of my Healthy Cooking Substitutions PDF (click the link to download it for yourself!).
And then I also formatted and branded a few of my recipes with my logo and blog link. I tried to pick a good variety/mix of types of recipes, so I choose a few of my absolute favorites: my Corn Flake Encrusted Chicken Fingers, Sweet Potato Black Bean Veggie Enchiladas, and Whole Wheat PB&J Muffins. Hopefully at least one of them will be appealing to everyone. 🙂
I also printed out a couple signs on some colored card stock, which I’ll display with some little wooden picture easels I bought earlier this week at a craft store.
Hopefully it goes well! 🙂
Since I’ll be at the health fair for about 4 hours and over lunch time, I also threw together a quick packed lunch for myself. We’re low on groceries since we’re leaving town tomorrow, but I was able to throw together some leftover cooked quinoa, some tabouleh (store bought), a big spoonful of hummus, and some chickpeas (canned – just drained/rinsed) into a little vegetarian bowl of sorts. I put a squeeze of lemon juice on top and some salt/pepper. I think it’ll be good! I wanted to add some avocado, too, but ours wasn’t ripe yet. Boo!
Plus some juicy grapes on the side.
And just in case I don’t have time to break out a real lunch, I also threw in one of these cool new “alternative protein bars” that Larabar just came out with. I received a fun package with a few of the different flavors in the mail yesterday. Thanks, Larabar! They are basically normal larabars but with some pea protein added. Cool! Much better ingredient list than most other protein bars, that’s for sure. Excited to try it! Have any of you seen these in stores yet/tried them?
And I’m off! Have a wonderful day, friends!
p.s. Love packed lunch ideas? I have a whole bunch more of them on my recipe page under “packed lunches”!
