Do you guys remember when I was out in Colorado visiting Celestial Seasonings (<—check out that post for tea brewing tips) on a blog trip last October? Well, while I was there, we had the opportunity to sample something new and, at the time, still top secret: their Dirty Chai tea.
What is Dirty Chai, you ask? It’s chai tea + espresso. I KNOW. My two favorite things combined!
Celestial Seasonings introduced their very first Mountain Chai blends back in the 1990s, and this is their new twist on the classic! Apparently people kept ordering Dirty Chais from the Celestial Seasonings teahouse on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder, even though it wasn’t on the menu, and that sparked the idea to turn the popular drink into an official product. Genius!
I was completely obsessed with Dirty Chai while we were on the trip and drank it like it was going out of style, which, as it turns out, chai is most certainly not. And it’s our lucky day because Celestial Seasonings has officially released their new chai products, including dirty chai, into the marketplace. Hizzah!
The new Celestial chai teas are available in two formats:
- Celestial Teahouse Chai Teas (traditional bagged tea) – available in Dirty Chai, Coconut Thai Chai, Mountain Chai, and Decaf Mountain Chai.
- Celestial Lattes (ready-to-drink 9.5 oz bottled lattes and 32 oz. concentrates that you add your choice of milk to) – available in Dirty Chai, The Godfather (dirty chai + cocoa!), Mountain Chai, and Matcha Green.
The Celestial Teahouse Chai Teas (bagged tea varieties) are available at Target, Giant, and Harris Teeter, and the Celestial Lattes (bottled & concentrates) are available at Kroger, Target, Stop & Shop, and Giant, with more locations for both coming soon.
I see myself buying the bagged tea varieties most often so I can control the amount of sugar, but all of the options I was sent to sample were delicious. Love the spices – I can’t wait to try some of the other flavors now, too!
