Hey everyone!
I had another kick butt personal training workout this morning at LA Boxing. I am seriously going to be in the best shape of my life after this partnership! I’ve been going three times a week (twice to group kickboxing classes, and once to personal training), and I’m seriously considering cancelling my Golds Gym membership… LA Boxing is way more fun.

Today’s workout was a mix of boxing/self defense and full body conditioning. I love that the moves Jerome (my trainer) has me do all target numerous body parts at once, in addition to getting my heart pumping! Very efficient 🙂
We started out with the weighted medicine ball! First, I had to do lunges around the gym while holding the ball. Then, I had to lift the ball above my head, put it on the floor in front of me, and do a sprawl (e.g. drop down into a plank) on top of it.
Then I took a couple steps and repeated, moving throughout the gym! (We work out between 7 and 8 a.m. on days there’s no classes at that time, so the gym is nearly empty).
Once I was sweating, we moved on to some squat and weight combinations. I did a series of triceps presses (holding one 10 lb. weight) and shoulder presses (with a 10 lb. weight in each hand) while holding a squat. Whew!
Next up — some heart pumping jump rope!
I did 2 minutes of regular rope jumping (I forgot how tiring jumping rope is!), and then for the last minute, I alternated two jumps of the rope with one push up. This series would be a great thing to do when on the road since the equipment is so packable! 🙂
Next up — more weights, but with the bags involved!
First, Jerome had me hold 10 lb weights over my head while doing alternating front kicks into the bags.
And then I continued with side kicks! Clearly about to fall over in this picture… lol.
Then we moved on to some boxing/self-defense. Useful, AND a great workout 🙂
And finally, some ab work, after which… I was totally spent.
Whew! Great way to start the day 🙂
I was supposed to do 2 miles on the treadmill after the workout per my half marathon training plan, but I ended up just doing 20 minutes on their elliptical instead. My legs feel great considering I hiked 6 super hilly miles on Saturday and ran 12 on Sunday, but my right calf is really sore, so I didn’t want to push it 🙂 (Don’t worry — yesterday was a total rest day!)
